In part 2 of this series we look at the dynamic between you and your inner voice, because the energy you expend in that battle is not only huge, it's unproductive.
Most people avoid uncomfortable situations. You don't want to feel uncomfortable and that is totally understandable. However, that's where the concept of the comfort zone comes in, if you are totally comfortable, you are definitely in your comfort zone.
Uncomfortable is where the gold lies, and leaning into the uncomfortable does a few really important things. In terms of performing, this concept is vital, because if you are listening to this the chances are that at least some part of performing makes you feel uncomfortable (if not all of it), and you want it to stop feeling uncomfortable. The truth is, the only way it will is if you move through uncomfortable to the other side, which means leaning into it. Listen to this episode to find out more.
I quite often talk about transforming people into fearless, confident performers but how do you transform?
In this 5 part mini podcast series I will take you through the process I use to create this transformation in my clients.
As I gear up for my live event and do the marketing, one of the tasks is to go through reviews and testimonials (which is a really nice thing to do really!) This week I came across a note that had come with a bunch of flowers one of the performers had given me after last year's event. In the note she talks about me having a gift for bringing out people's gold.
Well I can't say that I'm sure I have that, it got me thinking about what it takes to bring out someone's gold or, more of a challenge, to bring out our own gold.....
'Practice makes perfect' was the phrase I was brought up with but it's such rubbish and sets the sorts of expectations for practice that can make it miserable.
I know that the people who do well with their practice think two things, first they enjoy it and secondly they stretch themselves and have no problem when they fall of then edge of their skill zone.
In this episode I talk about how to take steps to get to that headspace....
What is the best way to learn your material. This is part on of a two parter, where I talk about the process I teach for this.
