I have Another Episode in the Creative Identity Series on The Crafty Maven Getaway Podcast!! We are almost done with our series and I want to start going into more practical information and tips for settling into your creative identity.

Listed below are some questions and tips to keep in mind when you come into your craftroom/craftspace/crafttable!

1. Be Proud of your Identity as a creator!!

2. KNow your reason why and embrace it! And do what feels fun, good and you!

3. Give yourself permission to play

4. Growth is a by product of living out your creative identity!

5. when was the last time you made something fun?

6.What Keeps me from playing freely with my supplies?

7. What does creative freedom look like for you?

8. Why does creative freedom matter in our long term north?

9. Growth doesn't have to look a certain way. Creative Freedom and Living out your Creative Identity is what guides your growth.

10. Play doesn't have to mean Choas!

11. Play within your comfort zone, play in ways that make you happy!

12. Stretch your go to techniques, and style in fun fresh ways. You don't have to go big all the time, it's the small simple steps that make the most differnce in your creative journey.

13. What Do I love using again and again?

14. How can I stretch those things in a new way without starting over?

15. How do I brainstorm to pivot from projects, techniques, styles I don't enjoy?

16. HOw am I giving myself grace?

17. What feels fun and still me?

18. How can I reframe my thinking, my creative identity and journey is about discovery and not perfection.

19. How do I let the process be the product?

20. what are the small risks I can take that might open new doors of creativity?

I also mention some ways to challenge yourself in your craftroom

1. using moodboards or photos/experiences as inspiration

2. stash kits/leftover kits

3. new techniques/old techniques in a new way

4. scraplifting yourself/others/ using someones else art as a starting off point

5. doing a new style of papercrafting/trying a style differently

6. focusing on elements for your projects instead of the whole project

Remember to use inspiration as a place to add your own identity and style to!!

This week we are continuing our series on Creative Identity. We are laying the ground work for another round of guests in the next few weeks as we finish up our series. We are hitting two topics giving our selves permission to play and growing through a creative rut.

Here are some topics and questions we talked about during this episode. BE sure to comment below one thing you have learned about yourself through this series! Let us know how you are inspired!

Creative Rut topics and questions to ask yourself:

1. What does a rut feel like? When I was in a rut before what was happening around me, to me, in my creative space?

2. Are the things we are doing, do they still bring us joy?

3. How do we problem solve to pivot and turn our rut into a pebble instead of a boulder?

4. What is the difference between a rut and burnout? what are the signs for both?

5. Are we giving ourselves grace during slower or less productive times? Are we comparing others journeys to ours?

6. How can you change your mindset about your preconcieved thoughts about yourself and your art/creations?

7.Has your why or your season changed?

8. How does growth look like in your life? in your creative space?

9. Growth can often look messy in the beginning stage- but the overall process should still spark joy!

10. Growth doesn't always look the same- this is where grace for yourself and others comes in.

11. Just because you know or found your style doesn't mean you don't need to grow- what does that look like for you?

12. Ask yourself when you don't love a project/creation- why? dig deep into what your learned through that process and what you can do to pivot and grow.

13. Why is it important for you to like all your art/creations? Is that a realistic expectation?

14. Why are ugly pages/creations important?

15. USe Curiosity as a tool

16. Challenge yourself and use the what if mindset when in your craftspace!!

17. Use Gratitude and grace in your space!!

Aloha!! We have another episode in the Creative Identity Series!! Let's talk about finding your creative self and then using inspiration to help guide you on the way.

Here are some themes and questions to ask yourself and to take away from the conversation.

You can stay connected to your creative voice by digging in and finding out who you are. Who you are as a person shows up in your scraproom just like it does in your day to day life. Know Yourself and stay true all the time!!

Inspiration gives you joy, energy, ideas and fills your cup.

Comparison can create doubt, self judgement or creative fatigue.

When you know you are creatively it helps you move past all the comparision so you can let inspiration and others work guide you. You take what you need and let the rest go.

Create a style audit: what colors, techniques and elements feel most you, make you desire to come back to your scrap/craft space.?

Be intentional with inspiration-use only the things that inspire you or use only the style elements that woo you.

Make note of what you love to create for yourself, what gives you the butterflies. I make the comparision of finding your identity in your crafting to falling in love. You have to date your crafting, keep the things that stay with you and let go of the things that don't. Reflect on the projects that feel authentic or fun.

When you are in a creative funk remember to limit your outisde inspiration. Focus on one thing or limit the amount of time/projects you save to use.

Use your creations for inspiration more than others too.

Remember everyone is different and unique, find others that resonates with you and use other styles and other crafters to help you grow.

Your challenge is to find two projects you made: One you love and one you didn't or it had things you wish you could change. Pick one element from each of those projects and create a new project!!

Episode 3: Organization

Let's talk about Organization today!! We all have to think about organization every once in a while in the scrappy sense. Aloha Crafty Mavens!! Today I have a mini episode and intro episode about a new series: Creative Identity: "Who Am I As A Creative?". This is all about finding yourself as a scrapbooker and how to use that knowledge to grow as a scrapbooker and artist.

As I introduce you to this new series I chat a bit about how this series will look, what we will talk about and how and why knowing your creative identity is important. I want to set the ground work, how does style play into things with our personality and flows onto the page.
