The Creative Brew

On this episode we talk about Support-more importantly why it may be hard for the ones around you to actually support you. This can be a frustration for many in the creative/entrepreneurial/athletic arenas. Why is it easier for strangers to support us than our immediate circle?

The context for this episode is taken from a conversation with a indie comic book creator and his mother. Which had me thinking after the conversation-Why is it hard to get that support from the ones around us? Some creative insights and inspiration for your week. I hope you enjoy and maybe something from this episode shifts your perspective on how you may view this topic.

This episode we talk this concept. People like water will seek its own level. Negative people generally hangs out with negative people, and positive will hang around positive. Figure out ways of hanging with people that want to exchange ideas, resources, solutions, connections. If you’re generally a positive person and you hang around negative people-odds are you will be the next one. Likewise you hang around high growth people, you will most likely be the next one. Which level are you actually on?

In this Special Brew episode of the Creative Brew, I bring my lovely wife Heather onto the show. We flip the script and she turns into the host and interviewer, for this episode, diving into questions about my world and a lot of things that I do from running Langfordesign and Just Heart Apparel to creating books and characters like Seed and Mush Mush, from working with organizations, starting an arts scholarship in remembrance of my mom, to me competing in college wrestling and even now still training and competing, recently winning a US Open Masters Championship. I give shoutouts to various individuals and organizations, and also a quick shoutout to my wife who's recently started her massage therapy practice.

Be warned there's a few times where we get a little emotional on things so if my voice gets a little crackly you'll understand why.

When I look back I've accomplished and created so many things it's hard to keep count, but for anyone that may be listening, the path is to keep going, keep creating, to keep revising your story, to rediscover who you are continually. So check it out let me know what you think.

186. Love your Struggles

This episode we talk about loving your struggles. I know it can be hard to deal with the daily struggles and challenges in lives. But what if reframed our challenges as teachers? Could our challenges lie the greatest insights and answers in our lives? Could we acknowledge and love those struggles, eventually loving them in order to dissolve them and perhaps go into the next level of our lives? This is tough because this is for me as well. You were built with unique talents and gifts-but it comes with the challenges and obstacles as well. But you’re uniquely qualified for your set of challenges. Better yet, what if your story could change the trajectory of someone else’s life?
