  • TCB-034: Mindset
    New episode: EPI: 034: Mindset
In this episode we talk about Mindset. For anyone looking to build and develop the best version of themselves. You have to build a routine and rituals, that will put you in the right state of mind and being, to create, share and inspire in this world.
For this episode I’m using some content from a new book given to me from best selling author and keynote speaker, Coyte Cooper, has a new book out called Flip the Script. In this book he communicates brilliantly how we switch our frame of thoughts from the regular counter productive thoughts we all have about ourselves to thoughts that will reinforce a creative and fulfilled life that we all want for ourselves. This book gives out great stories and practical techniques and tips to start your morning and evening rituals and put you on the right direction.
I’ll also share my morning routine and how just doing one thing per day that will change your habits and behaviors are compounded over time. And through that compounding you’ll become a totally different person.
What’s one morning routine, that if you consistently do this, would change your life?
Flip the Script is available at https://coytecooper.com/books/

  • EPI: 027: Licensing Expo I Alley Art Festival I 3 Tips for Art Vendors
In this episode, this was actually a previous FB Live recording over the weekend at the Alley Art Festival in Vista, California. In conjunction with the Hill Street Club and Backfence Society.
There is a vibrant art vendor scene that’s here in Vista as well as Oceanside, when I look around at the exhibitions. there’s a lot of great styles of art provided. But when it comes to actually selling your art it could be a whole different matter completely. I’ll give out some suggestions on what any artist vendor could do to better promote themselves. I mix this in with my recent trip to the Licensing Expo and what I learned from there that I plan on implementing in my creative studio as well as sharing with other creatives.
Because all my artists love to create. Question is how can you make that first sale? And these are 3 things i noticed at the Licensing Expo which was more on the business side of art.
    Make a great impression
If I’m a customer going through the festival and I walk up to your table how inviting are you? Are you sitting down in your chair away from your artwork or you up in a open and inviting manner allowing others to stop by to see your work.
Is your artwork displayed in a manner that would cause me to stop and look. Even if you can’t make the sale, the potential customer has viewed and experienced your artwork. It’s up to you to build a potential repoire with the customer.
Are there various ways your work could be consumed?
What I mean by this that if you’re a painter and you’re creating all this artwork in the same format, could it be mocked up or seen on a coffee cup, or a postcard, or apparel, shoes or backpacks? Figure out all the ways a customer could view or use your art.
Have a way of connecting with the consumer.
I’ve been to many artists booths and I’ll ask for a business card and they tell me to go to instagram. Many times unless i take a pic of the someone’s instagram handle I may not connect with that artist. So I urge any artist, have your business cards available! Or at the very least have a way of collecting their email to place on a newsletter. From there you can create an audience that is in love with art and willing to support you.

I’ll start this episode with a question. What is the vision for your creative/entrepreneurial life? How do you see yourself in the next 5 years? Do you see yourself working with great clients, having great relationships with your family? Building something that will last for years to come?
On this episode we are still on a series about the Creative Life. This is something I’ve asked some of the guests that I interview on the show. How would you see your perfect day or how would you see your life if you had the perfect mix of clients, partnerships and relationships.
We get so focused in on the day to day operations of our studio or business that-at times- we forget to check where we are going. It happens to me, I could be working on client work, creating marketing, setting up meetings that by the time Friday rolls around I haven’t set any time to refocus on making sure the business is going the right direction.
With this series I’ve alluded to the concept of a garden to our creative life. We need Patience, Consistent Action/Energy, and now we dive into building the Vision for your creative life.
Helping my granddad in my younger years in these gardens that I was his apprentice for. Showing me how to cultivate the environment, plant the seeds, nurturing them, and finally seeing the vision, which I’m sure my granddad already saw in his mind, manifested.
I’ll tell 3 quick tips on what you may need to consider when allowing your Vision to develop and grow, perhaps past what you could have imagined.
