about sydney:
sydney 常娇 walsh is a chinese-american visual storyteller based in nyc and northern nj. her work often combines documentary, photojournalism and fine art photography. she is especially interested in topics related to identity, cultural and ecological history, and stories connected to her home state of florida.
currently, she is the staff photographer for national audubon society where she documents the non-profit's conservation work, environmental advocacy, educational programs and wildlife across north and south America. she also photographs for national and international publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, CNN, NPR, NBC, AARP, The Guardian, Vanity Fair, Los Angeles Times, The Hechinger Report, The San Francisco Chronicle, NZZ, among others.
sydney holds a BFA in photojournalism from Corcoran School of the Arts + Design at George Washington University and is an alumni of the Eddie Adams Workshop XXXIII and the AAJA Voices Fellowship. she is an active member of Diversify Photo and the Asian American Journalists Association. she also enjoys experimenting with analog processes, taking her cat to the beach and making vegetarian dishes :)
