The Credible Teacher

In this two part podcast, I document why perspective is not something that can be gained by accumulating 'things' and why each of us has the ability to be empathetic without requiring added stress in order to be an impactful teacher.

I document what being a expert communicator means to teacher credibility. Also, I explain why I'm starting to advertise on the podcast and share how grateful I am to have your attention (and hopefully help in some way).

I share some ideas about a possible topic for a TED Talk and how the process of trying to come up with an 'idea worth spreading' may he just as important as actually giving the talk...who know though.

I document a coversation I had with a coworker about our society and how sometimes going home and taking care of what we can control seems to be the only thing we can do sometimes.

I document some research I found on when teachers can argumentative and be perceived as credible. Also, I share my perspective on when other situations in the classroom may lead to 'arguments' and how they can be handled.

I document a conversation with a former student about all she has going on outside of school and how it serves as a good reminder that there's a need to balance all we do inside of schools with what happens outside of them.

I document a discussion I had with class today about the Day of Silence and why teachers can be more credible if they know that they don't know everything.

I document a story about a student telling me I like teaching one subject over another and why the way we are perceived by students will always matter more than how we think we are perceived.

I document my attempt to fool my homeroom class and share some research on how showing that we care about our students is more important than us just caring about them.

I document why spending time and energy worrying about things we can't control won't help educators become their best selves. Also, why each of us needs to make the decision because no one else will.
