The Credible Teacher

I document (tearfully) an interaction I had with a student that was offered a handshake but preferred a hug.

I document how I communicated with a student after they apologized to me for their behavior during a fire drill. And, how managing situations like this one can be great opportunities to build credibility with our students.

I document why perspective is such a powerful aspect of life and how being positive is really the best option in a world full of so many negative things that could overwhelm us. Also, how teachers can use perspective to understand how impactful our jobs our in a society.

I document a study done on power in the classroom and reflect on what I've done to communicate this power dynamic to students. Also, how understanding this power dynamic and how to communicate it could increase our credibility as teachers.

I document since thoughts about a Ted Talk we watched and what teachers have the opportunity to do with the position we have in young people's lives.

Also, how the idea of pain is personal and that we never really understand what others may be going through or how painful their experience may be, regardless of what I think about it.
