Ideal can seem out of reach, and it sometimes feels easier to put it out of sight. Part of being a parent is to point our children toward the ideal, while at the same time navigating what is real.

Ideal can seem out of reach, and it sometimes feels easier to put it out of sight. Part of being a parent is to point our children toward the ideal, while at the same time navigating what is real.

Sometimes we like to let our accomplishments determine how "righteous" we are, which can lead to bitterness between Jesus-followers.  Today we talk about how we have truly been made righteous, and how we have absolutely NOTHING to do with it.

Religion is all about "doing" and hoping that it's enough.  Religion is about doing external things trying to affect the interior.  The best description for Jesus is "done".  The work is finished and when we receive that finished work, it changes the inside which works its way to the exterior.  The work done on the cross brought forgiveness of sin; the resurrection work broke the power of sin.  Why do we keep striving to do when the work has been done?
