After going through a period of harsh loss, Crucible Men’s Ministry Assistant Dan Ripple shares how Crucible "saved my life. It made all the difference in the world." Following his initial weekend, he participated in Crucible's two-year program and has found life and community volunteer staffing retreats and bringing soul work to other men. "We all have gifts and talents but to be able to carry those to men, to be in service to men, to support what God has intended for us and supporting men in their mission of soul work has just be a real blessing to me."

This episode contains adult content related to unwanted same-sex attraction.
Host Andy Spell sits down with Crucible participant Don Howard to discuss the things we use to fill the void of feeling unwanted, like food addiction, over-exercising or over-committing to busy schedules. For Don, it was engaging in "cruising" behavior with other men and indulging in a pornography addiction. Don shares how when he began his Crucible journey, he ultimately wanted to know why he felt unwanted same-sex attraction and that he wasn't alone.

James Henderson, co-Founder and Director of Ashrei, a center for Spiritual Formation in Mexico City, shares his Crucible testimony with host Andy Spell. When asked what brought him to his Crucible retreat, James shares, "I didn’t like the man that I saw in the mirror. I was doing mission work and I felt like I was called to serve in the world that God loves and to do it cross-culturally, and so I had big dreams and a vision for loving and serving the world but I don’t think I had the character to support that kind of dream. My character needed to catch up to the life I wanted to live in God’s world."

Pastor and Crucible Leader John Casey is interviewed by Leadership Series host Tim Rush about his leadership journey. He shared how his leadership really began by being a good student and doing what was needed. He stated, “One has to learn to lead yourself before being able to lead others.” He highly values doing things well, which has propelled his leadership. In his fifties, he learned that he also needed to accept his imperfections because they were his mistakes that endeared him to others. He enjoys discovering and learning and then sharing what he discovers with others. John shares how his view of God from a demanding father to a loving father has greatly impacted his leadership. He challenges leaders to do the hard things, even when they hate them. Doing the hard things is the only place he has ever experienced growth.

Terry Gjeldum shares with podcast host James Damey how he believed he was "stupid" most of his life. His greatest fear was that someone would find out he was stupid, and he lived with a lack of assertiveness and fear. During his Crucible retreat, he experienced an exercise where he learned that God does not think he is stupid. His parenting was impacted for the better, and his relationships with his wife and children greatly improved. He shares how he moved from an authoritarian parent to an honest and authentic parent. His son said Crucible impacted him to be more like Jesus when he said, “You have become a softer, more approachable father.”
