If you’re like most people, your phone is the first thing you check in the morning and the last thing you check before you sleep. You’re also checking it multiple times throughout the day whether for social media, news, or to make it look like you’re busy when someone you don’t want to talk to walks by.
In this episode, we’re going to talk about the number one thing that is taking time away from you doing the things you need and want to do. Your phone usage.

Finding and Connecting to your Purpose.
What does it mean to leave a legacy? A lot of people do things out of routine or work just for the money and have no purpose to drive them. Let’s talk about how we should all have purpose for where we are heading in our lives, in our businesses, in our friend groups, and more. Because where there is no vision, the people perish. Andrea Moore is the Founder and CEO of Her Legacy Network, Austin’s first Christian women’s leadership network. She has always been passionate about gaining clarity regarding what we are created to do.

Having a full time job and being an entrepreneur is not an easy task. Despite being busy, my priority has always been on my family and being present.
However, I do believe that balance is a myth and that the thing that we are truly seeking is prioritizing the most important things in our life.
Here are some steps that I am currently taking to not let work and business take time away from being present at home.

Getting your act together requires a level of honesty you can’t even imagine. There is nothing easy about realizing that I’m the one that’s been holding myself back this whole time.
I am back from a long break and if I'm honest with myself, fear has held me back. I've been believing some lies that have been holding me back and preventing me from uploading podcast episodes as well as affecting other areas of my life. But today is the day that I call them out!

Many entrepreneurs don’t plan the future of their business much less their personal lives. Everybody needs a plan to legally protect themselves and their loved ones. People need to prepare for those “just-in-case moments” and need to get legal protections in place now! There aren't many attorneys that specialize in estate planning, much less attorneys of color. In fact, 5% of attorneys in America are black and Iffy Ibekwe is one of those rare ones who specializes in the area of estate planning.

Diversity in Entrepreneurship: Race, Diversity, Inclusion are all hot topics right now. Business has the transformative power to change and contribute to a more open, diverse and
inclusive society. In the past, efforts at building diversity and inclusion have been more of a
“nice-to-have” than an essential. What does it practically look like to create an environment where individuals of any race, sexual orientation, gender, background, or religion feel welcome and set up to succeed?
LaToya Collins-Jones is a Diversity & Inclusion Consultant for a large tech company and has an infectious passion and desire to see the work place diversified. Why is diversity and inclusion important in the workplace? How can we as entrepreneurs ensure our businesses are diverse and inclusive? Why do large companies such as H&M, Dove, and Prada wait until an issue arises before they address it? Let's dive in!

So when fathers and their children go into business together, it can be a big deal—it might even change the shape of the father-child relationship. Working with your Dad in a family business can be the best decision you have ever made or the worst experience of your life. They own and manage a local insurance company as a Father and Son team. Can the bond between a Father and Son be an advantage when starting and running a business?
In this episode, Matthew sits down with David and Joe Kampert who are a father and son who run an insurance business together. Let's discuss the reality of working with family.

Entrepreneurship creates jobs, spurs innovation, builds wealth, and is historically one of the greatest contributors to America’s advancement. However, in America, there is a huge gap between black and white communities that in many ways, is still as wide in 2020 as it was in 1968, when a run of landmark civil rights legislation culminated in the Fair Housing Act in response to centuries of unequal treatment of African Americans in nearly every part of society and business. In the decades since, white wealth has soared while black wealth has stagnated. Many have pointed out the far larger share of white millionaires than black, but even among the middle class, the inequities are clear. In this episode, we have a panel of entrepreneurs to discuss the reality of being a black entrepreneur in America.
In this episode, Matthew sits down with Lahoma Dade, Shedrach Rowry, and Sterling Smith to discuss Black entrepreneurship and why it is important.

1 in 5 adults will experience a mental health problem. There is a mental health crisis in entrepreneurship. A recent study by a University of San Francisco researcher Michael A. Freeman found that approximately one half (49%) of entrepreneurs suffer from at least one form of mental health condition during their lifetimes. These include ADHD, bipolar disorder and a host of addictive disorders. Michael Cox is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Level II Restoration Therapist and a Master Trainer for Mental Health First Aid with over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and their families, individuals and couples. He works with individuals and families to help them recognize their identity and safety patterns, while empowering client emotional regulation and mindfulness for behavioral change. Matthew and Michael have a great conversation on how we can recognize our and other's mental health and we can make the right move or find help for our benefit.
