Kit Kline is the founder of Nature Based Therapy. She was born in Canada, a descendant of the Wampanoug people on her paternal side and migrated to Australia in 1982. Kit has 20 years’ experience working in the mental health sector both in mainstream and Aboriginal community healthcare. 

Kit is due to complete her masters in social work in 2022 and holds both a master's and bachelor's degree in Aboriginal studies as well as postgraduate qualifications in mental health, alcohol and other drugs, welfare, holistic healing, youth work and training and assessment. Kit is a graduate and alumni of the Leaders for Geelong program and is passionate about social justice and environmental justice. Kit lives on the surf coast of Victoria, has four children and enjoys spending time in nature, traveling and learning about different cultures.

Base Chakra - element earth, the foundation from which all life springs. It represents everything solid, the practical aspects of our lives, and the level of consciousness known as instincts. It is located at the base of the spine and includes the legs as connectors between the earth and the spine. In this chakra, you learn to ground the energy of your body into the Earth. Your legs act as roots pushing down from the base of your spine. Think of these roots like the two prongs of a plug: when you plug your legs and feet into the ground, you generate energy for the rest of your body.  

As the foundation for the entire chakra system. It is here we build the foundation for the temple of the body, the anchor for the chakras above. Without a strong-rooted foundation little else can be accomplished. We must have soil firm enough to provide stability yet yielding enough to be penetrated by roots. The anchoring of this temple digs deep into the Earth, Sanskrit name Muladhara meaning “roots support. The demon of the Root Chakra is FEAR - to combat fear is to relax, feel balanced and learn the subtle energies of the body. To have pleasure in your life and an expanded awareness of self and environment.
