In this exciting episode of The Curly Girls Obsessions podcast, host Jennifer takes listeners on a transformative journey into the world of hair extensions, revealing not only her personal path but also the incredible financial opportunities that can arise for hairstylists willing to embrace this niche. As the owner of Adored Salon and Adored Signature Hair, Jennifer shares her own experiences of entering the hair extension market, starting with the challenges she faced during her initial months of training. Despite the slow start, she discovered a goldmine of demand that would eventually reshape her career and salon.
Jennifer dives deep into the financial potential of hair extensions, breaking down the numbers that illustrate just how lucrative this service can be. From the initial install cost to ongoing touch-up sessions, she highlights the impressive revenue that stylists can earn from just a handful of clients. By quantifying the services and exploring the possibilities, Jennifer paints a clear picture of how specializing in hair extensions—especially for curly-haired clients—can lead to substantial income growth. With practical insights and relatable anecdotes, she illustrates how hairstylists can generate upwards of $100,000 or more annually by strategically building their clientele, making a compelling case for why this business model is worth considering.
Listeners will appreciate Jennifer's unique analogy comparing traditional haircuts to hair extensions, likening the income potential to collecting pennies versus quarters. This metaphor serves to underscore the relatively higher revenue with less effort involved when offering hair extensions. To top it all off, Jennifer announces the launch of her new educational offerings aimed at aspiring and experienced stylists alike. These resources—including install classes and mentorship opportunities—are designed to equip hairstylists with the tools they need to excel in the hair extension industry. The Curly Girl's Obsessions Episode 29:
Pulling Back The Curtain on Business Decisions
Thinking out of the box as a business owner is a must. Things change so often and you always need to reevaluate where you are and what you are doing. Is it stressful? Of course it is. Do I like it? It doesn't matter if I like it or not, it's a must in business to know when to pivot and understand how.
I realized that running a platform for education with hair extensions I needed to start with new stylists. Hair school teaches you how to pass the state boards. Hair school gives you the basic knowledge of how to properly perform the essentials of hair. It is up to the individual to seek out the education they want to grow.
Learning how to properly install hand-tied hair extensions is going to take a stylist's career to the next level. Learning this service will maximize your earning potential. Creating a niche service within hair extensions makes you even that much more valuable as a stylist.
This is why Adored Signature is taking the education to the students at hair school that are about to graduate. We want to help them level up their skills the Adored way.
Listen in as Jennifer discusses the very means by which to grow as a business owner. With statistics on the hair industry and what is currently growing by leaps and bounds.
