“Jesus knew the wilderness very well. And he's going to take that crown of shame into the wilderness of our affliction, infirmity, and sin. And there in the wilderness, he becomes lost, forsaken, you could say, by his own creation.

And why? So that he could redeem us from the curse of the fall. Back in Matthew chapter 3, John the Baptist looked at the religious leaders and said to them, the axe is being laid at the root of the tree.

What tree? The tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The tree that caused us so much trouble in the first place.”
