  • How Was St. Joseph Chosen to Be Mary's Husband?

The Gospel of Matthew introduces Joseph simply as "the husband of Mary." But have you ever wondered how he became her husband in the first place?

Scripture doesn't tell us how Joseph was chosen. But ancient Christian tradition—and a remarkable account from the 17th-century mystic Venerable Mary of Ágreda—offers a fascinating backstory.

In this episode, Cyndi shares Ágreda's account of the selection of Joseph and uncovers a surprising connection to the Old Testament that makes one detail of the story especially significant.

But the deeper question is not only how Joseph was chosen. It is what he was chosen for.

Pope St. John Paul II provides the answer—and it reveals just how extraordinary Joseph's vocation really was.

A beautiful look at the hidden calling of St. Joseph, the choice God placed before him, and the quiet yes that helped change the course of salvation history.

  • What Can Humans Do That Angels Cannot?

We tend to think about everything angels can do that we cannot. But what if the Catholic understanding of suffering reveals something extraordinary that human beings can do that even angels cannot?

A comment from Fr. Dan Reehil led Cyndi to look at human weakness, Christ's Cross, and our place in God's plan from a completely different direction.

What Christ did with suffering changes what our own pain can become—and reveals that even when we think we have nothing left to give, we may still have something powerful to offer.

  • The Demon Knew His Sins—Then Something Changed

Dr. Dan Schneider was assisting during an exorcism when something happened that stopped the session.

What happened next—and what changed when one of the men returned to the room—offers a remarkable way of looking at something familiar in the Catholic faith.

It also raises a much deeper question: When our sins begin to define us, is that how God sees us?

This story may change the way you see what is waiting for you when you come home to the Father.

  • Does God Lead Us into Temptation?

Does God ever lead us toward sin? When we pray, "Lead us not into temptation," the words can sound as though we are asking God not to tempt us—but Scripture tells us clearly that God tempts no one.

In this episode, Cyndi explains what this often-misunderstood petition of the Our Father actually means, the important difference between being tested and being tempted, and why temptation itself is not the same as consenting to sin.

She also uncovers a beautiful connection hidden in the order of the Lord's Prayer: in "forgive us our trespasses," we ask for mercy after we have fallen; in "lead us not into temptation," we ask for grace when temptation comes, before we fall again.

The Our Father is more than a prayer to memorize. It is the loving guidance of a Father who knows exactly what his children need to remain close to him and grow in holiness.

  • Why Did Mary Magdalene Think Jesus Was the Gardener?

Why does St. John tell us that Mary Magdalene mistook the risen Jesus for the gardener?

In this episode, Cyndi looks at Mary's encounter with Christ outside the empty tomb and a fascinating reflection from St. Gregory the Great. Mary may have been mistaken about who was standing before her—but she may not have been entirely mistaken about what He was doing.

This small detail in John's Gospel reveals something beautiful about the way Christ works within the human heart. Even when our prayers seem unanswered, suffering does not make sense, or we cannot see what God is doing, He may be closer than we realize—patiently bringing forth new life within us.

The challenge this week is simple: Don't leave the garden too soon.

  • What Can Happen in the Final Seconds Before Death?

What can happen in a human heart when everyone else thinks the story is already over?

In this episode, Cyndi shares the remarkable story of a grieving widow whose husband died by suicide and her unexpected encounter with St. John Vianney, the Curé of Ars. What he reportedly told her about the moments "between the bridge and the water" opens up a much larger question: what can happen between a person and God in the final moments of life?

Drawing on the Catechism, Scripture, and the Diary of St. Faustina, Cyndi explores what the Catholic Church teaches about suicide, repentance, prayer, and the mercy of God—and why we should never presume that we know the whole story of another person's soul.

But there is another part of this story worth considering: the quiet faith of a wife who continued to pray for her husband even when it seemed nothing was changing.

For anyone who loves someone who seems far from God, this story is a reminder not to give up. We cannot see another person's heart or know how God may be working within it. Our part is to remain faithful, keep praying, keep loving—and never underestimate what God can do with the quiet witness of a life lived with Him.

    • St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul, §1698 St. Faustina reflects on God's mercy reaching a soul in the final moments of life, even when nothing occurring within that soul is visible from the outside. • Quo Vadis? The Story That Isn't in the Bible.

Why the Quo Vadis Church Still Matters.

Along the Appian Way outside Rome stands a small church called Domine Quo Vadis—"Lord, where are You going?" According to an ancient Christian tradition, this is where St. Peter encountered the risen Christ while fleeing Nero's persecution and was compelled to turn back toward Rome.

The story is not found in Scripture, so why has the Church preserved it for nearly two thousand years? In this episode, Cyndi looks at the biblical Peter—the disciple who loved Jesus deeply but still had to learn to trust Him, accept correction, and follow where he would not have chosen to go. Through Peter's story, this little church offers an enduring reminder that holiness does not mean having everything figured out. It means remaining teachable and being willing to change direction when Christ shows us the way.

  • Can One Holy Hour Really Save Souls?

In this episode of The Cyndi Peterson Show, Cyndi reflects on a powerful private revelation attributed to Blessed Dina Bélanger—a vision that has challenged Catholics for decades to consider the true power of Eucharistic Adoration.

But what exactly was Jesus revealing?

Could one Holy Hour really affect another person's eternal salvation?

Drawing on the Church's teaching, the Catechism, and Our Lady's message at Fatima, Cyndi explains how intercessory prayer works, why Christ invites us to participate in His saving mission, and why our prayers matter before a soul reaches its final moment of decision.

  • He Confessed His Sins—Then Every Word on the Page Disappeared

Have you ever walked out of Confession knowing that your sins were forgiven—but still struggled to truly believe it in your heart?

In this episode of The Cyndi Peterson Show, Cyndi shares a powerful devotional story traditionally attributed to St. Anthony of Padua, one of the Church's greatest preachers and confessors. When a repentant sinner becomes too overcome with sorrow to speak his sins aloud, St. Anthony asks him to write them on a piece of paper and return to the confessional. What happens next offers an unforgettable image of the mercy of God and the extraordinary grace of the Sacrament of Confession.

Through the story of the Blank Paper Miracle, Sacred Scripture, and the teaching of the Catholic Church, this episode explores a truth every Catholic needs to take to heart: when Christ forgives our sins, His forgiveness is real.

If you have ever struggled with guilt over sins you have already confessed, wondered whether God has truly forgiven you, or simply want to grow in your trust in His mercy, this episode is for you.

  • Fr. Jason Lewis - Medjugorje 2026

While leading a pilgrimage in Medjugorje, our group had the privilege of hearing a beautiful and thought-provoking talk by Fr. Jason Lewis, MIC, the Chaplain for English-speaking pilgrims in Medjugorje.

Fr. Jason is a priest of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, a religious community known throughout the world for its promotion of the message of Divine Mercy and deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Those two pillars of Catholic spirituality make him uniquely suited to minister to the thousands of English-speaking pilgrims who come to Medjugorje seeking a deeper encounter with Christ through the guidance of Our Lady.

In this episode, I share Fr. Jason's inspiring message exactly as our pilgrimage group heard it. His reflections offer practical wisdom, a deeper understanding of God's mercy, and a renewed appreciation for Our Lady's role in leading us ever closer to her Son.
