Two struggle veterans have expressed concern about the state of affairs within the ANC. Former Ethics Committee chair Ben Turok told the SABC he was worried about the open factionalism within the ruling party. IFP Chief Whip Narend Singh says it is up to Parliament to take the decision on how to deal with calls from the Helen Suzman Foundation and others for the removal of Busisiwe Mkhwebane as Public Protector. In a letter to the Speaker, the Foundation makes reference to the Constitutional Court judgment in the matter between the Reserve Bank/ Absa-Bankorp and the Public Protector. Speaker, Thandi Modise still has to respond to the Foundation - which says adverse court rulings have repeatedly brought Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office into question.

Eskom's former chief executive officer, Matshela Koko has assured Zimbabwe that there will be no loadshedding in the country for the next 12 months. The cash-strapped neighbour, Zimbabwe, which is experiencing a major power crisis, introduced rolling electricity power cuts due to low water levels at the Kariba hydro-power station, as well as the country's crumbling power infrastructure. Matshela Energy, which is fronted by engineer Koko Matshela, will invest millions into a solar power plant in Gwanda, to help curb the rolling blackouts in Zimbabwe.
