Preliminary investigations by the Department of Labor have revealed that some South African trucking companies hire only foreign national drivers. During in a meeting in Durban truck owners claim that they are forced to hire foreign drivers, due to the shortage of skills in the country. However investigations show that the department has not received a single application from any of these companies, to hire these drivers. In a joint meeting today, with truck driver's representatives, Transport Minister Blade Nzimande blamed the truck companies for the ongoing dispute between local truck drivers and the foreign drivers.

Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor, Mongameli Bobani has accused the Hawks of being used as part of a political ploy to oust him from his position. Bobani spoke at a media briefing in Port Elizabeth after the Hawks raided his office and home earlier today. He claims he's got evidence of a meeting between the Hawks, a politician and a third person discussing his ousting. He says the third person was promised a job if he could implicate him in the Nelson Mandela Bay Intergraded Public Transport System scandal. According to Bobani, the person told the politician and the Hawks that he didn't have any information involving the mayor in the scandal…

Independent Media chair and head of Sekunjalo Group, Dr Iqbal Surve says South Africa's black economic empowerment model is fundamentally flawed and needs to be reviewed urgently. He was testifying at the Judicial Inquiry into the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) in Pretoria. Dr Surve says BEE doesn't bring any meaningful economic transformation and that it is merely an "artificial" entry point into the capital markets.
