Time now for our regular Tuesday slot the Global Perspective, today's destination is the country of Iran, an Islamic republic between the Caspian Sea in north and the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman in south. The country was formerly known as Persia. Iran is bordered by Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan. Iran became an Islamic republic in 1979, when the monarchy was overthrown and clerics assumed political control under supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini.

Several trucks were attacked since the early hours of Sunday morning in KZN. Trucks were also set alight in Cape Town, Johannesburg and P.E. South African Airways (SAA) chief executive officer (CEO) Vuyani Jarana tendered his resignation on Thursday, citing uncertainty about funding and slow decision-making processes that were delaying the airline's turnaround strategy as reasons for his decision. His resignation also comes in the wake of Phakamani Hadebe who announced his sudden resignation as Eskom's chief executive officer, for health reason. So what needs to be done to stabilize struggling state-owned enterprises and how can stability be achieved if we continuously see the changing of CEOs at the helm of these SOEs?
