The South African Reserve Bank has appointed a forensic investigator to probe VBS Mutual Bank's affairs as well as the bank's possible fraudulent activities. The Reserve Bank has tasked Advocate Terry Motau to establish whether any of the business of VBS was conducted with the intent to defraud depositors. The investigations will also cover claims of reckless business practices and non-disclosure by some of the directors of the bank.

The Federation of Unions of South Africa (Fedusa) says the call by the South African Federation of Trade Unions (saftu), to reject the National Mininum Wage, is against the best interest of workers. The quiet diplomacy over the Guptas won't deliver President Cyril Ramaphosa's 'new dawn'.
