It can get out of hand!
“Idolatry is really not good for anyone. Not even the idols.” - John Bach
So, here are nine ways to really R.E.D.I.R.E.C.T.
No spoilers here. Listen to get out of it, or to steer clear from it completely.
Stanning can be a good thing, even a great thing. But if we aren’t mindful, it can be the worst experience of one’s life!
It’s not that you stan, it’s who and how! Take a few minutes and reflect on your current approach!
Who do we stan?
There are at least 3 types of people we stan: those we want to become, those with whom we see something that simple blows our minds, and those we simply want to live with forever!
Well, there’s the 4th one, but few will admit it: stanning ourselves.
It is a liberating thing to be honest with one’s self!
You’d better!
It was what was meant to be.
But relying on your power and energy alone will not cut it.
“The only way to Heaven is prayer; a prayer of the heart, which everyone is capable of, and not of reasonings which are the fruits of study, or exercise of the imagination, which, in filling the mind with wandering objects, rarely settle it; instead of warming the heart with love to God, they leave it cold and languishing.” — Jeanne Marie Bouvier de la Motte Guyon
You weren’t meant to languish – or to get out of it – alone!
“Having a vested interest in other souls unconditionally creates a ripple effect that produces miracles in the lives of those around us.”― Molly Friedenfeld
Let’s look into courage, engage, and see souls set free!
Yes, it can be a good thing…particularly when you are losing interest and drive for a bad thing!
“I’ve dumped it all in the trash (meaning, I’ve been languishing in lack of meaning!) so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him.” – Phil 3: 7-9
Start listening, you’re on to a good thing!
Admit it!
“If you don’t heal from what hurt you, you will bleed on people who didn’t cut you.” – Unknown
Then after you let yourself go, go with the F.L.O.W!
Four ways to address your languishing.
Let’s get started!
Yes, you!
And me.
And everyone else.
If not now, in the past, or sometime in the future. If not entirely, in some area of your life.
Laguishing – the middle child between depression and flourishing.
In what way has this happened, is happening, or most likely, will happen to you?
Name it to tame it. Diagnose it to prognose it. Confess it to arrest it.
You should, if you want a meaningful and maximized life!
Living with the tension of work demands and need for rest is an eternal reality we all should embrace, and on a daily basis.
It is a tough world, and many do not play fair. Even well-meaning friends and family members will try to squeeze more out of you if you are willing.
Ultimately, it is a personal choice we each have to make, and again, on a daily basis.
“There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither.” – Alan Cohen
It’s easy to revert back, to relapse into our old ways of thinking when the pressure to produce or to meet deadlines kicks in. While it is good to be flexible, be careful not to slip back into your old ways of living. Keep in mind a one-time adjustment shouldn’t become a long term habit!
