As we learned this week in Come, Follow Me, we need to prioritize prophetic counsel over worldly counsel. As we put obedience to the prophet into practice, we will see its effects in our own lives.

In many ways, we are all pioneers. We each experience life, but we experience it differently. Let’s have courage, as the pioneers who came before us had courage. And as we remember to put faith over fear, we will be changed for the better.

We are all literal children of God. And the feelings of others are just as real as our own, and they deserve to be treated with respect, care, and validation, just like ours do. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Pioneer Day is coming up on Wednesday. As we remember pioneers, let's remember their example by seeking joy when we feel discouraged, praising God even in times of hardship, and taking courage.

The apostle Paul wisely taught in a way that was very relatable to his audiences. He connected with them and spoke directly to their understanding.

Eternal truths are not opinions or theories. They are eternal facts about our spirits, our relationships to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and our divine potential.

Our actions don't usually seem momentous when they happen. But it is by small and simple things that great things are brought to pass. Small actions of faith and courage make a difference in our lives and for those around us.

As we learn about our ancestors, we can follow their examples. We can learn from their lives and experiences. As I remember my ancestor Shadrach Roundy, I am reminded to have resolve and courage.

When we focus on things that matter most and seek earnestly to follow the counsel of prophets and apostles, we will draw nearer to the Lord. As Paul explained, “we should serve [the law] in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”

The mercy and pardon offered by Jesus Christ through His atonement is sweeter than anything else we can experience. How will we respond to his soft and tender plea to come home to righteousness?
