TSMC asks for COVID-19 vaccines.

US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo says on Monday that she spoke with the CEO of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC) and that he requested assistance in obtaining COVID-19 vaccines. The TSMC request coincides with a global chip shortage, which has slowed production at manufacturers worldwide. Although there has been no significant impact on chip production in Taiwan since domestic cases began to rise in the middle of May, some US auto executives were concerned COVID-19 in Taiwan could impact the flow of semiconductors to US factories.

SentinelOne Inc. surged up to 33% and closed at 17.46% in its trading debut

after upsizing its initial public offering to raise $1.2 billion, fueling the year's biggest week for U.S. listings. According to Bloomberg data, this week's total for listings is on track to be around $10 billion. This will make it the fifth-largest week in the last decade and one of the top 12 weeks in history. This does not include special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, which have flooded the market with offerings in the last year.

Nio (NIO) and Xpeng Motors (XPEV) are preparing to report June and Q2 deliveries

despite a global chip shortage, as the Chinese EV startups ramp up their competition to Tesla (TSLA) with new EV launches and initiatives. Nio's premium electric SUV sales nearly doubled year over year in May, after more than doubling in April. To meet the low end of its target of 21,000-22,000 EVs in the second quarter, China's emerging Tesla rival will need to deliver 7,187 electric SUVs in June. 

Xpeng Motors' deliveries of its G3 electric SUV and P7 electric sedan increased 285 percent year on year in April and 483 percent in May. It has not specified a Q2 delivery date.

Nio's shares are up about 6%, and Xpeng's shares are flat on Wednesday.

Moderna, Inc. announced that vaccination with mRNA-1273 produces neutralizing titers against all variants tested,

including the rapidly spreading delta variant. The evidence that mRNA-1273 can work against the DELTA variant has increased investor confidence in the vaccine's suitability as a long-term solution to COVID-19 risk.

Moderna stocks rose 0.27% today.

Didi Global Inc., a Chinese ride-hailing company, rose as much as 29 percent in its trading debut Wednesday

after raising $4.4 billion in a U.S. initial public offering.

After pricing at $14 per share, the company's American depositary shares opened at $16.65. At 1:08 p.m., the shares were up 19 percent to $16.63, giving Didi a market value of around $80 billion. When stock options and restricted stock units are factored in, the company's diluted value exceeds $83 billion. Didi's shares settled at 14.27%, up about 2% at the market closed time.

Charlie Munger, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc, praised China's decision to impose sweeping restructuring on Jack Ma's fintech giant Ant Group.

In an interview with CNBC, the 97-year-old said alongside Berkshire CEO and billionaire investor Warren Buffett. He also lauded China's reaction to the novel coronavirus. China imposed strictly enforced lockdowns and widespread restrictions on movement, measures that Americans would find less acceptable.

According to Reuters, Tesla (TSLA) will recall nearly 300,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in China

for an online software update, citing the country's State Administration for Market Regulation.

According to the news outlet, which cited the regulator, the cars have a function that can be accidentally activated by drivers, resulting in sudden acceleration.

According to Reuters, the recall affects 249,855 China-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, as well as 35,665 imported Model 3 sedans, and vehicle owners are not required to return their vehicles.

Another important news about Tesla is its partership with CATL, a Chinese electric vehicle battery manufacter based in Ningde. CATL said in a stock exchange filing that it would supply battery cells to Tesla, which manufactures Model 3 sedans and Model Y SUVs in Shanghai, until December 2025.

Tesla stocks rose 2.4% on Monday.

SentinelOne, a cybersecurity company, is aiming for a $8 billion valuation in its IPO.

SentinelOne's initial public offering on Tuesday could raise up to $1 billion. On Monday, the cybersecurity firm raised the price range for its IPO. SentinelOne intends to issue 32 million shares at $31 to $32 each, up from $26 to $29 per share, according to its prospectus.

QADA stock skyrocketed 19% after the provider of integrated software solutions for manufacturers agreed to be acquired by private-equity firm Thoma Bravo for $87.50 per share, or $2 billion in cash.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.

Three major chip manufacturers (Broadcom, Marvell, and MediaTek) have come out in support of Nvidia's proposed acquisition of Arm.

The transaction has sparked intense scrutiny from both regulators and other chip companies. Nvidia's CEO now believes that the company's new graphics processor has a 30% chance of being approved. This is an increase from his previous estimate of 10%. On Monday, the company's stock was up 5% to $799.40.
