The Dark Itself

Today we start a month full of Progressive Metal off the right way by reviewing Opeth's classic album, Blackwater Park! There's definitely a reason why this album is so highly regarded among the metal community, so we do our best to do it justice, but to also give our honest opinions about it. We are also trying a different format with this review that we hope to continue in the future, so please let us know what you think about it! Other than that, smash that play button and get ready for one hell of a ride!

Whoo! On to a new month and a new genre for May! (This year is FLYING by ain't it?!) So we're gonna be talking about Progressive (a.k.a. "Prog.") Rock & Metal this month! We begin with our usual discussion about what exactly is Prog? What are some of the defining characteristics? What does it sound like and look like? Where are some of the boundaries between Prog proper and the rest of the music community? So there's definitely an interesting discussion on this one, with lots of examples thrown in for your auditory pleasure. So kick back, relax, grab the spaciest alcoholic beverage you can find, and listen up!

'Sup Fuckers! Today we round out our month of talking about Folk Metal with a little chaser episode about Folk Punk! It is a genre both near and dear to our hearts and as we skipped right the fuck over most of it during Punk month, we felt it fitting to include here! There's some Celtic punk, some Latin Punk, and even some down-home bluegrass punk in this one so whatever your flavor, it is in this episode! So pop in your headphones, pull out the cork, and listen up!

So for our Part 4 this month, we decided to do a very special episode! We did a bonus album review of Cellar Darling's "This Is The Sound" with Catie! She has the unfortunate circumstance to interact with us far more often than any other humans could stand and we thank her for that! She is also a huge Folk Metal fan and so we thought it'd be a great idea to review an album of her choosing with her! Hopefully y'all like hurdy gurdies!
