2023 is already being touted as the year that video game adaptions are taken seriously, even when the adaption isn't meant to be serious. In comes the Super Mario Bros. movie spearheaded by the polished animation of Illumination Studios and the controversial casting of its voice talent. Having grown up in love with Nintendo's games and then subsequently "breaking up" with them in recent years over their anti-consumer practices, I feel quite adept to deliver a fair and non-bias take on what's likely the first of the Nintendo Cinmatic Universe.

Got a little busy toward the end of the month but I finally got around to recording my top 5 favorite video games I played in 2022!! Of course, per usual, I didn't manage to play everything and my personal list may differ from the usual entries you've heard, mainly a certain honorable mention that may surprise you. Its been 84 years...or at least its felt like it, since the first Avatar released and promise of sequels were made by filmmaker James Cameron. Now, the tech has advanced to fulfill Cameron's vision for the franchise and the land of Pandora carries on. But even over a decade since my criticism of the first films story and character development, it looks like not much has progressed outside of the VFX tech.

Ragnarök has come to an end for me after 40 hours, and I can certainly say this is a game worth thinking about, talking about, and break down in the most introspective way. No spoilers will be revealed here, and though I can't compare it directly to Elden Ring since I haven't played it yet, I can definitely say its the Godfather Part II of the gaming industry thus far. However, that might not mean what you think...

Phase 4 of the MCU comes to a close with a somber and poignant turn as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever serves as both a touching tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman while also cementing Wakanda's powerful importance in the big picture of the Marvel Universe. However, its second act remembers to be a Marvel movie as well, proving the film to fall short of the height its processor was naturally able to achieve. Here's my review of Wakanda Forever with a spoiler segment at the end.
