TRIGGER WARNING
I consider this guy to be one of the infamous, most evil serial killers of all time.  In my opinion, he is right up there with the Ted Bundy's, the BTK's, Son of Sam....the worst of the worst. And these stories just get told, and retold, there's tons of documentaries about them, and it almost starts to feel like fiction, and then we give them these captivating nick names,
Well Rodney Alcala was given the name of 'The Dating Game Killer'.., and while it is technically true, he was on the Dating Game, and he was a killer, but the Dating Game, did not actually result in, or lead to any killings.  However it was smack dab in the middle of a killing spree that this monster was carrying out between California and New York.
From 1968 - 1979, Rodney Alcala managed to fool everyone around him, (it also didn't help that, at the time New York and California had multiple serial killers on the loose)
Rodney is suspected in the possible murders of up to 130 women.
