Hello, I recently sat down with NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson.  The interview was conducted via a "walk in my shoes program", a program that a teacher at my school conducts, where speakers come and talk with her students. I had the opportunity that day to conduct interviews with each speaker, and I wanted to share this one with everyone.  That being said you will hear others talking,  David will talk for a while, and I won't come in for a while. The last episode of season one features Cody Dillon. I sat down with Cody this week, and we discussed many things. His journey has been quite significant. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Cody attended Sylvan Hills High School. Cody and I talked about his father a lot. His father transformed his life in ways that benefited him to become a better kid and a stronger person. Cody has been fortunate enough to have a love for the game of baseball, which has allowed him many opportunities. Cody has a remarkable journey through colleges all over the south, working with the Frisco RoughRiders, becoming a head coach at Estem high school, and now an assistant at North Little Rock. Cody and I talked vigorously about a program called Noble Impact, which is how Cody and I met. It is a program that changed our lives, and is something that all school systems need. Cody likes to say, “We all have a superpower. We are all really good at something, and when you figure out what it is, milk it”. This episode wasn’t just an interview, it was a conversation between a little brother and a big brother, and I am so grateful to be able to do this with Cody, and live my dream within the moment. This week I got a chance to sit down with former Arkansas Razorback men’s basketball player Jonathan Holmes. Holmes was born and raised in Columbia, Illinois. He talked to me about his close relationship with his family, and how much he looked up to his father. From a young age, Holmes has been a hard worker, playing multiple sports throughout middle school. Holmes continued playing football and basketball, eventually sticking with the game of basketball after a particular incident with his brother that would change his life tremendously. Holmes’ high school only had about 500 students, with 150 in his class. Holmes talked to me about his passion to get away from Illinois and explore D1 options rather than D2 or D3 options. Jonathan found his way to Fayetteville, Arkansas, and landed a tryout with other athletes across the country to play under Mike Anderson and the Hogs. Holmes grabbed that opportunity and ran with it. He was so familiar with Columbia that Holmes was not used to being away from home, basically being a stranger. Holmes talked to me about his perseverance, and how staying at Arkansas, allowed him to work even harder. Throughout his journey at Arkansas, Holmes fulfilled that life-long dream of gaining a scholarship! After Anderson was let go from the program, Jonathan thought about exploring other options. Anderson had become a father figure for Holmes, and Holmes almost followed him to St.John’s, where Coach Anderson is currently coaching. Holmes decided to stick it out in Fayetteville, but unfortunately, incoming new Head Coach Eric Musselman had other plans. Musselman let Holmes out of his scholarship, and the matter that Coach Musselman went about it didn’t really sit well with Holmes. Holmes ultimately stuck with his initial plan and finished out his senior year and earned his finance degree. Jonathan is back home now and is currently working at a Chick-fil-a with his father. He is also helping younger kids train for the game of basketball.  Holmes also is looking to get into the coaching business. If you’re trying to expand your game and take a chance at going to a D1 college, then this is the episode you need to tune into. Holmes spoke with great passion, and I enjoyed every second of this episode! I hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I did. Shoutout to that purple van!

I got a chance to sit down with Andrew Hudson this week. Andrew and I talked about his hometown, San Antonio, Texas, and how much the city and Texas mean to him. He told me if you ever get a chance to take a trip down to San Antonio, you need to ride a boat down the San Antonio Riverwalk, which is one of the city’s biggest tourist sites. Hudson was highly ranked out of high school but was a late bloomer in the track and field world. His work ethic and natural abilities allowed him to gain offers from all over the country. Hudson attended Texas Tech University for the next four years, where they would go on to win multiple Big 12 championships and also the school’s first national championship. Hudson became a ten-time all-American in Lubbock, and he graduated with a degree in Animal Science. Hudson has slipped away from Texas for the first time in his life, currently residing in Florida, where he is preparing for the upcoming Olympics with a professional group and Coach Gary Edmans, Hudson spoke on so many great topics and gave great advice for high school and college athletes that can help you guys prepare for college life and after college. Such an awesome episode and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did!

This week's episode features Obinna Eze. Born In Nigeria, Africa, Eze spoke to me about the culture in Nigeria, a part of the Igbo tribe. Eze told me talking about Nigeria is hard because it’s so beautiful and diverse. If you ever get the chance to go don’t hesitate. Eze talked to me about his passion and love for poetry, and how the game of football was introduced to him. He talked to me about why he chose to attend The University Of Memphis. Memphis gave him a city-like experience, instead of the other universities recruiting him, that were surrounded by a strict “college lifestyle”. Eze recently graduated majoring in finance. He hopes to play football as long as possible, but definitely wouldn’t mind exploring different things. Eze spoke with great passion and heart, which makes this an episode you can't miss!

This week’s episode features Professional and former NCAA All-American Track and Field runner Davon Demoss. Davon and I talked about his time growing up in Jackson, Tennessee, and how the mentorship of his parents helped prepare him for any situation. Davon grew up with a love of video games and reading. Playing football and basketball at a young age also prepared him for his future in track and field. Davon talked to me about not starting his transition for track and field until his senior year of high school. Davon was given the opportunity to spend the next four years of his life at the University of Memphis. Davon elevated his talents at Memphis which allowed so many opportunities for him. Davon has now graduated and is looking to continue his path for Track and Field, but would love to use his degree in Criminal Justice in the near future. We change gears this week as we have University of Texas track and field runner Willington Wright joining me on the show! Willington, born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, was destined to become an athlete at an early age. Growing up, Willington played soccer and also played AAU.  It wasn't until his junior year of high school, though, that he began running track. His brother, Weldon, ran track at the University of Tennessee, but Willington decided to paint his own legacy. When the time came for Willington to make his decision, he chose Middle Tennessee University. It came as a sort of shock that he got a full ride to MTU because he was one of few Americans on the track team.  Balancing the lifestyle of track and field and his love for music production, Willington made the best of his college experience. After two years at Middle Tennessee University, he felt he needed a change, to truly improve himself to get to the next level. With so many options, the University of Texas came calling. Although Texas didn't offer a full-ride like other universities, he felt that the coaching staff and resources in Austin gave him the best chance to become better and eventually reach his goal of making the Olympics.  Over time Willington has become a natural leader, as he doesn't just want to talk about leaving a positive legacy, but actually do it.

Former Rutgers and Professional basketball player Tyler Scaife joined me on the show this week! Coach Scaife, born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, found the love of basketball at a very young age, and the determination to work harder than everyone has allowed her to travel the world and perform at the highest level.  Coming out of high school, Scaife was a highly touted recruit, ranked as the number one point guard in the country and the ninth ranked overall player. She received offers from big time colleges such as Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee, and Ohio State. Ultimately she ended up spending the next four years of her life on the east coast, where her perception on love and “sisterhood” grew tremendously.

Scaife told me legendary head coach Vivian Stringer challenged her in a way other coaches didn’t, and the bond that the team had with one another was the reason she decided on Rutgers. Scaife wrapped up an incredible four years with accolades and awards for her performance on the court and in the classroom. Scaife, drafted by the Phoenix Mercury, immediately saw how different the game was in the pros. Scaife also spent time overseas, playing for Sampaio in Brazil. She told me the hardest part about playing in another country is “trying to learn a whole new language to understand the plays”. Scaife took precautions and returned back to Arkansas and is now a part of the Estem girls basketball coaching staff! Another awesome episode with a lot of great advice! I had an amazing time with this. I can only hope you guys do too.

Former NFL and Arkansas Razorback defensive back Tevin Mitchel is the guest on this week's episode. Tevin spent the majority of his childhood in Little Rock, Arkansas, with his mother. By age 14 he was allowed to move to Mansfield, Texas with his father, Eric Mitchel, who formerly played for the Oklahoma Sooners and New England Patriots. Tevin, a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, received offers from colleges such as Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Arkansas becoming his high school's first-ever four-star athlete. Tevin, unlike a lot of college football athletes, was allowed to start in eight games his freshman year at Arkansas, which helped him be a standout defensive player for years to come. Tevin talked to me about practicing against such elite wide receivers like Jarius Wright, Joe Adams, Greg Childs, and Cobi Hamilton, which helped prepare him for any team in the SEC. Tevin's speed and ability to play in multiple different schemes, allowed him to be drafted to the NFL by the Washington Football team. This is one of my favorite episodes, and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did!

Former Kentucky Women's basketball player Angela Phillips Wright is the First Woman to be on the show!  We went over her time growing up in Oak Ridge, TN, and how her parents open-minded mindset allowed her to pursue her dreams. Mrs. Anglea began a stint of modeling jobs at a young age which has helped prepare herself for the future. Mrs. Angela talked to me about her work ethic, and how she had a chip on her shoulder to work harder on the basketball court than the rest of the pack due to only being five foot four. Mrs. Angela spent two years at The University Of Kentucky, under Head Coach Mickie Demoss. After her sophomore year, she decided to transfer to Indiana State University, which may come off a shock but it worked for the better as she found her future husband, Dominic. Mrs. Anglea is a devoted Christian, who truly sees the way of life and allows herself to follow God's word. An awesome episode, I can finally check this off my bucket list. Enjoy episode number 12.
