Thomas Grimm Sr. shares his firsthand experiences of old Evansville, from mischievous childhood adventures and neighborhood rivalries to hitchhiking as a kid, Catholic school days, and the tough lessons that shaped his character. He recalls how his grandfather raised him after the loss of his father, the resilience it built in him, and how love, family, and a relentless work ethic became the cornerstones of his life.

This week on The Days Grimm, join hosts Brian and Tom as they take a break from their usual schedule to bring you a special recap of their annual 2025 summer float trip. The duo recounts their adventurous weekend on the Current River in Donovan, Missouri, filled with hilarious mishaps and unforgettable moments.

The episode kicks off with a story about a stop at a quirky, "redneck Buc-ee's"-style store called Boomland, where a search for the perfect garden gnome ensued. The main event, however, was the "Night of the Raccoons," a wild tale of a campsite invasion by a tactical team of trash pandas. Listen as the hosts describe their face-to-face encounter with a mother raccoon and her army of beady-eyed babies, leading to a late-night Google session on whether raccoons can open zippers and smell sealed Pop-Tarts.

The adventure continues on the water with a harrowing tale of their tube flotilla getting dangerously tangled in a tree, resulting in a popped tube and a moment of pure helplessness against the river's current. Amidst the chaos, Tom showcases his legendary campfire cooking skills, whipping up everything from steak and rice to giant homemade meatballs.

Tune in to hear all the details, from funny anecdotes about their fellow campers to brainstorming future float trip ideas like creating a "Current River Pirates" flag and training a raccoon army. It's a classic episode of bullshitting and reminiscing that gives listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the hosts' yearly tradition.

Step into the shocking and brilliant world of Nikola Tesla in this deep-dive episode of The Days Grimm! Join hosts Brian Day and Thomas Grimm as they uncover the electrifying life of the man who arguably invented the modern world, from his fierce rivalry with Thomas Edison to the wild conspiracy theories that surround his work today.

We explore Tesla's incredible mind, capable of visualizing complex inventions and running simulations entirely in his head. Discover the truth behind the "War of the Currents," where Tesla’s Alternating Current (AC) battled Edison's Direct Current (DC) , a conflict that led Edison to publicly electrocute animals, including an elephant named Topsy, to "prove" AC was dangerous.

Was Tesla's genius too much for the world? We discuss his partnership with J.P. Morgan , the ambitious Wardenclyffe Tower meant to provide free wireless energy to the world , and why it was ultimately abandoned. Plus, we delve into his other groundbreaking inventions, including the Tesla Coil, remote controls , and his successful attempt to wirelessly light 200 light bulbs from 25 miles away.

Finally, we unpack the bizarre and fascinating aspects of Tesla's later life, from his peculiar romantic relationship with a pigeon to the persistent conspiracy theories involving a "death ray" and how his papers allegedly ended up in the hands of John G. Trump, Donald Trump's ancestor.
