The Deputy: The Official Podcast of the Oconee County Sheriff's Office (SC)

Every deputy has a first day.

There’s a first time putting on the uniform, getting behind the wheel of a patrol car, making a traffic stop, answering a call for service, and experiencing that moment when you realize someone is depending on you for help.

On this episode of The Deputy Podcast, we go Behind the Badge with Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ethan Cronin to talk about the beginning of his career in law enforcement.

Deputy Cronin joins us to share what led him to law enforcement, why he chose the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, his experiences at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and what it was like making the transition from training scenarios to Field Training and real calls for service.

We also talk about some of the memorable “firsts” that come with becoming a deputy, the things you don’t necessarily learn in the classroom, what has surprised him about the profession, and the lessons he’s already learned while serving the citizens of Oconee County.

What is it really like when the training ends, the radio calls your number, and suddenly you’re the deputy someone is counting on?

Behind every badge is a person — and every career in law enforcement has a beginning.

Join us for Behind the Badge: The Beginning of the Badge with Deputy Ethan Cronin.
