In this episode, Vanessa Aron and Jennifer Griggs discuss the concept of dignity and its importance in our lives. Jennifer explains that dignity is our inherent worth or value and that it is honored through acceptance, inclusion, safety, acknowledgement, recognition, understanding, fairness, autonomy, and accountability. These are the elements of dignity identified by Donna Hicks, PhD through multiple interviews around the world.
Jennifer has organized these elements into three categories: belonging, being seen and heard, and justice. She also explores the relationship between dignity and other values, the barriers to understanding dignity, and how we can violate our own dignity and the dignity of others.
