At the Black Christian Influencer Conference, I found myself asking the Holy Spirit what I should say to the people as closing remarks. I clearly heard the Spirit say, "Create in me a clean heart." The next thing I knew, I started weeping and sharing with the audience how I had made my business an idol. I realized I cared more about how others saw me than about glorifying God. It took being stripped down and almost losing my business to understand that God, not me, deserves all the glory. I began studying idolatry through scriptures like Judges 10:13-14 and Jeremiah 2, realizing that I had put more trust and faith into my image than into God.
