On Episode 62 of the Distorted Dialogue Podcast, I meet up with Matt Bischoff the vocalist from the Columbus, Ohio metal band Samarra. Samarra is a hard band to slap a label on, and their EP, Only A Setting Sun Can Save Me, which grabbed a hold of me right away, so when I saw they were opening for the legendary Shai Hulud, I knew I had to meet up and discuss their killer sound. A mixed bag of heavy sounds spanning Death Metal, Metalcore, Deathcore and so many more, you should just go check the whole EP out, as my explanation won't do it justice. We talk about what went into making such a killer sound, where their influences lie, and the state of metal in Columbus. These dudes have dropped another single, Infamy, featuring Bodysnatcher, which was the single Matt was referring to. I didn't know Matt personally before this interview, but he is one energetic front man, commanding the stage, and delivering Samarra's message with force.

Made up of members from Obsequiae, Vex, Ruins of Honor and a handful more, and with features from Tanner Anderson of Crypt Sermon, Majesties and Panopticon, is exactly how you think it will sound. Mind Blowing 🤯. I declare in this episode that Apocryphal Verse is my EP of the year, and that explains why I was so stoked to sit down and discuss it. Eoghan is the drummer for Aduanten, a trio made up of Eoghan, his brother Ciaran handling guitar duties alongside Mike Day, who plays the keys too. If you haven't heard apocryphal verse, go check it out. We discuss the heavily textured drums, their writing processes being in 2 different countries, influences and projects outside of metal and so much more. On Episode 60 of The Distorted Dialogue Podcast, Beijing guitarist and one man metal project, Jimmie Hong of Wheel of Time, stopped in to talk about his new album, Asymmetry, and his experiences with Kiko Loureiro's Mentorship Program, working with amazing musicians and so much more. Jimmie took part of Kiko's program which put him in touch with legendary musicians like Dream Theater's Derek Sheinan, Guitar virtuoso Tony MacAlpine, and host of other world class musicians. This helped not only his writing process, but gave him ideas and outlets to incorporate, making a truly great album. We discuss the incorporation of his newly acquired skills into this album, what went into making such a killer album, and even incorporating some traditional elements of Chinese music into the project. If you haven't heard Asymmetry by Wheel of Time, you are missing out. World class musicians collaborate, to make some amazing progressive metal, and being the debut, how much better can it get?!? For fans of Dream Theater, The Liquid Tension Experiment, Angra, Steve Vai, and other progressive visionaries. Putting a modern spin on this sound, and one hell of a spin it was. This album is great.

On Episode 59 of the Distorted Dialogue Podcast, Horrenda's Darragh O'Connor stops by to talk about the All Ireland Project, a collective of musicians from various genre's of metal, from all parts of Ireland who are raising awareness and contributing to several different charitable organizations. Formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lock down's, this collective was not only a therapeutic outlet for these musicians confined, but wanted to raise attention to a horrific murder, and to raise money for Ireland's Parkinson's Fund.

THE ALL IRELAND METAL PROJECT was founded in 2021 to bring together musicians from across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Now, in 2025, the project has been revived to deliver its official conclusion in the form of the Aiséirí Documentary, edited by CosmoPalace, and set to release on December 6th, 2025.
