  • Fifty More | Ken May
During the 1967-68 year, a new indicator of what the arts mean to South Carolina was born. It was the South Carolina Arts Commission, the state's first arts agency. Fifty years later, the Commission helps support over 6 million arts experiences across the state each year and brings leadership and guidance to an industry that has a $9.7 billion impact in our state. We sit down with the SCAC's Executive Director, Ken May, to talk about their 50th Anniversary, the growth of the agency, and the future of the arts in South Carolina.

  • The New Standard | Carrie Ann Power
Haven't you always wondered how teachers knew what to teach? They're called "standards", and they're the backbone of classroom instruction. They provide students, teachers, parents, and the public at large, a look into what students are learning in their school. And in the arts, we've got shiny new ones to show off in 2018!
In this episode, we sit down with Carrie Ann Power, Education Associate for Visual & Performing Arts at the SC Department of Education, and talk about new Visual & Performing Arts standards which will fully roll out in schools across the state next school year.

  • Above the Fold | Elizabeth Lafleur
At the core of every piece of art, in every medium, is a story. We have always used art to tell our stories, and we're slightly addicted to them - telling them, hearing them, capturing them, and hearing them. In fact, we love stories so much, that we have an entire industry dedicated to telling them - Journalism.
In this episode we sit down with Elizabeth LaFleur, a journalist for The Greenville News, to talk about creativity, journalism, and the art of story-telling.
