This week on The DIY Guys, the renovation is seriously taking shape. The kitchen is being fitted, the floors have been screeded, three rooms have been painted, and skirting boards and architraves are going on.  So naturally, Nick is taking all the credit while doing absolutely none of the work and has been on holidays galore instead.   

Meanwhile, Dan is tackling his downstairs toilet like a proper DIYer — getting stuck in, getting his hands dirty, and proving that you don’t need a £100k budget to cause yourself a massive headache.One of them is renovating a house.The other is actually doing DIY.

In this episode of The DIY Guys, we’re back at the bungalow to check in on the renovation budget—and things aren’t quite going to plan! 😅  We started with a £100,000 budget, but with the latest costs added up, we’ve already hit £104,000… and we’re not finished yet!  

Dan gives us an update on his latest DIY project—the loo—and we take a look at where the money has gone, what still needs doing, and whether he can do everything in his downstairs toilet for the £2k to £3k budget.   F

It was all going well and then everyone disappeared! No carpenter, no plumber, no builder and even Nick didn't manage a day - a grim but real result of DIY renovating!   Dan DIY's a bespoke plaster ceiling rose and Nick's £100k budget is at 96% - eek!

Kat has been renovating her beautiful English country barn for over 10 years! Whilst this may sound daunting to some, it has resulted in a house tailored (as Kat does all of the DIY and design) to her needs; with highlights such as a warm, dark bathroom, open plan kitchen living, a stunning outdoor kitchen and a beautiful beam restoration.

The budget is going down the pan at the £100k bungalow renovation, Dan's fox problem returns and Nick's cat nearly kills him; safe to say all is not quite DIY discussions on this weeks episode. 

"A dream project house" are the words of our next guest Amanda Balmain who has undertaken an old Victorian Farmhouse. It has features and challenges galore; from an abandoned swimming pool, hidden fireplaces and even a window that seemingly Amanda cannot get to! 

Nick quizzes Dan on the 5 biggest mistakes people undertaking DIY make. We also share a viral orange juice/washing up liquid wallpaper hack that makes us want to strip any wallpaper in sight and Nick updates us on the bungalow with only 2 months to go. 

They said don't buy it, you have no experience and it's too much work...but Ellie and Lawrence are hard working and willing to learn and get stuck in! The guys speak about how they are undertaking this enormous property, the abuse they received for simply painting some hallway panels in their own beautiful house and what it's like working together.

The kitchen has arrived, the plasterer is flying and the extension is being screeded to the finished floor level; all go at the bungalow. Dan also has a nonsense loft hatch hack to stay cool in the heatwave and we discuss why building materials are at their highest!
