The DJ Pod Cast

One of LA’s best-kept musical secrets -- co-writing and collaborating with the likes of Jim James, Mikael Jorgensen (Wilco), and Moby -- Jamie Drake has all the while been carefully honing her own craft and preparing to take center stage.

Now, over 2 million people have discovered Drake’s premiere tracks from her upcoming album, EVERYTHING’S FINE: an record that embraces heartbreak and hope, with indie-pop stylings wrapped in lush orchestrations reminiscent of Jon Brion and Van Dyke Parks and delivered with rich vocals, derivative of her varied musical influences ranging from Harry Nilsson to Sufjan Stevens; from Cat Power to Joni Mitchell.

Drake’s first major solo album is set to be released on AntiFragile Records in mid-2019.

FILM SCHOOL returns in May 2019 for an east coast headlining tour with supporting act MINT FIELD and a new EP. This on the heals of the September 2018 release 'Bright to Death', their fifth album and first full-length LP since 2010’s ‘Fission'. Recorded over 8 days in November 2017 on the outskirts of Joshua Tree, this luminescent collection of 11 songs is the finest showcase yet for the band’s signature layered sonic tones, psychedelic atmospheres, and seductive melodies. The album gets its title from text on an artwork singer and guitarist Greg Bertens had seen, part of an exhibit by Chinese students on the topic of global warming. “Bright to death” popped into his head as the band was recording in sun-blistered Joshua Tree, and it stuck. In addition to four members of the original lineup, the album features drummer Adam Wade(Shudder to Think, Jawbox) on several songs, and was mixed by Dan Long at Headwest Studios and mastered by David Gardner at Infrasonic Sound.

Recently expanded to a four-piece, this introspectively intense duo has quickly evolved in a short span of time. Fronted by the haunting harmonic combination of singer-songwriters Jenna Olson and Caleb Waldvogel, the group’s soul-piercing simplicity has grown by leaps and bounds with the addition of guitarist/bassist/keyboardist John Bomer and drummer Miles Ferguson.
