Comprised of jazz-school graduates and Emo scene veterans alike, the group exploded onto the midwest indie scene in late 2017 with two back to back EPs, ‘Consolation Prize’ and ‘Castro’. In the short time since their inception Old News has already carved out a niche for its experimental, genre bending take on Emo and Math-Rock, all the while opening for scene darlings like Elephant Gym, The Obsessives, and Perspective, a Lovely Hand to Hold.

After completing their first US tour in support of ‘Castro’, the band immediately returned to the studio to begin work on their newest release, ‘Hands Like Glaciers’- out February 2nd, 2019.

The Jins - She Said

There’s an old trope you might hear tossed around by the occasional senior: “You can’t do a thing about yesterday, you can do very little about tomorrow, so might as well get after it today.” If you find yourself drowning in 90s grunge vintage fetishist acts, repeating this mantra to yourself may save your life, (or at the very least, your eyes from rolling out of your head at a live music venue!) The phenomenon of bands doing their best to ape the sounds of yesteryear can be overwhelming for a young person, and a bit draining for those who were actually there.

Now stop for a moment and imagine the strength it would require being one of Vancouver’s premier fuzzy power trios, The Jins, an act keeping that era’s musical textbooks on the shelf for the occasional reading, but not trying to re-write those books. The Jins are an impressive, buoyant bunch, a description that they immediately live up to in their live show and their ridiculously reliable record releases. The group (Ben Larsen, Hudson Partridge, and Jamie Warnock) have managed to hack it in a city with an incredibly rich six-string history, but has an economic situation that has about as much room for artists as it does for detached houses... and that’s worth a full sheet of gold stars.

Future Corpse are a progressive post-hardcore band from Melbourne, Australia, who play with a wide spectrum of sound including classic prog rock, black metal, math rock, hardcore punk, 90’s post-hardcore, latin & jazz. Future Corpse have released two albums in 2016 - Another World to Consume and 2018 - Culture Ruins Everything Around Me. Currently they are working on a set of 2 EP's to be released within the next 12 months.

The Anthropophobia Project - The Magnificent Turn of Events

I use music as my diary. I’m not terribly good with words, so I use melody to express myself. I use sound as a therapeutic outlet for emotions and feelings. Even though there are few lyrics, I wear my feelings on my sleeve. It’s the only place I’m able to open up completely. I was apprehensive releasing such personal songs, but the act of letting go is part of the therapeutic process.
