More Than Asanas | What Is Love?
When we hear the word love, most of us think of one thing: romantic relationships.
But what if that's only one expression of something much bigger?
In this episode of More Than Asanas, we explore the Heart Chakra (Anāhata) through the lens of connection, compassion, and the many ways love moves through a lifetime. We reflect on friendship, family, chosen family, our relationships with animals, the bond between physician and patient, self-love, purpose, and the profound realization that love often surrounds us long before we recognize it.
Drawing from yoga philosophy, neuroscience, and lived experience, we also explore why our culture has taught us to place romantic love above all others—and how that belief may be one of our deepest collective saṃskāras, or conditioned patterns.
Perhaps the question isn't, "Am I loved?"
Perhaps the better question is, "Can I recognize love wherever it already exists?"
