  • xxi ~ Brian Keane Fitness ~ Keep Moving Forward
Brian Keane is an online fitness trainer hailing from the west of Ireland. He is author of the Amazon best-selling book, the fitness mindset and hosts the no.1 rated health and fitness podcast in Ireland & the UK. He is the proud owner of Brian Keane Fitness, a company that serves thousands of people each year through their online fitness programmes.
Brian is also just a normal guy trying to make his and the life of others around him better. I first came across his material during an ambiguous time in my life. Rejected from medicine for the 4th time, the mindset side of his material really helped me get over the opinions of others and staying focused on the task at hand.
Working as a primary school teacher in London with a chid on the way, Brian, feeling totally unfulfilled, decided to pack it all in. In this podcast he explains about going broke TWICE, hitting rock bottom and the many failures he had before making it to the top.
We speak about our type A personalities and the inability to appreciate the moment by always looking too far into the future which only leads to feelings of anxiety. We discuss money and if it truly is the be all end all. We dissect what it means to be a Dad and the pressures it brings but also how much perspective it affords a person. Finally, we chat about his astounding 250 kiliometer run through the Sahara desert and how a guy who hates running was able to finish it.

  • xx ~ Why I do a Podcast
This wasn’t an easy one to record by any stretch of the imagination. I really dug deep in an effort to understand why a year ago I felt so strongly about starting a podcast. Was it out of narcissism? Was it in an effort to remain constantly relevant. Was it to bring value to myself and others alike?
Things aren’t always as they seem. I became disenfranchised with social media over the past couple of month, sickened by myself constantly trying to portray an uber-cool eternally positive over-confident self image. Was this the true me? Not a fucking hope.
The reality is, I like a lot of others have insecurities and these have been silently masked by this image I try so desperately hard to maintain on social media. This desperation left me feeling hollow inside. Why was I letting a digital world control my emotions and the way I felt?
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The way I have revealed myself in this episode is in an effort for others alike to feel as though they can do the same. There is huge strength in being true to yourself, recognising that human beings were made flawed and that nobody is perfect. There is huge strength in acknowledging that we all have weaknesses and communicating this with others leads to enlightenment.
In this episode, I talk about perception vs. reality, giving up alcohol for 30 days, my invaluable learnings over the past year and understanding that every person at some stage in their life will need help - so never be afraid to accept it.

  • xix ~ JJ Burke ~ Climbing Mt. Everest
Mt Everest is the world’s tallest mountain. Located in the Himalayan mountain range, it sits at a height of 8848 meters. It is well known for its hazardous nature, taking the lives of many climbers with 1 in 10 successful climbs to the summit ending in death. The high altitude causes most climbers to be seriously ill, where they experience a number of symptoms including dizziness, fatigue, headaches, nausea, vomiting & severe shortness of breath. These may seem minor to the common person, but when above 20,000 feet with limited resources, it commonly claims the lives of climbers.
On the 5th May 2017 John John Burke was the first Clare man to summit Mount Everest. In this week’s episode, I speak to him and a 10 year journey that brought him to the top of the world. Severely overweight and feeling totally unfulfilled, John documents where it all began for him and how he transformed his life. He speaks about the importance of mental health and techniques he used to overcome the Himalayan beast. The fear of death and how he was able to keep any impending thoughts at bay. We talk about the important relationship he had with his Sherpa and the spiritual nature attached to the mountain.

  • xix ~ Clean Cut Meals ~ Yin & Yang
Clean Cut meals is Galway based meal prep company. It all started from a home kitchen cooking for friends and family, which then snowballed into something so much bigger. After some very brief market research via posting meals up on social media platforms and seeing the response, the then young college students went about setting up a fully pledged independent business.
In this episode we discuss the difficulty entering a market which is still relatively new and unestablished. The importance of competition and how it allowed their company to flourish. And also how they are transforming the lives of people in a sustained organic way. The 70:30 rule is something in which they speak about with regards to nutrition and this is something every person should take away from this podcast.

  • xvii ~ Jamie White ~ Life is Good. Share It
Jamie White is your modern day serial entrepreneur. Aged 30 and he already has 15 years of chief executive experience, where it all started by running a tuck shop from his dormitory at boarding school.
Founder of Leading social, a media marketing agency which works with the likes of KPMG, enterprise Ireland and Douglas Newman Good, Jamie works from the floor up and knows where success starts & ends.
A major fan of planning large scale events, Jamie has successfully worked with the likes of Gary Vee, Hardwell, and he even managed to take the wolf out of wall street in Jordan Belford.
Recognised as one of Irelands 30 under 30 in 2015, skies the limit for this engaging, cool, crisp collected man.
In this week’s episode, we talk about the recent success of his fresh resolutions event that was helf in the RDS and his plans for 2018. How to optimise social platforms in the tech storm we find ourselves in. Why failure is so important for growth and why he wants people to learn from his.
We speak about making tough calls in business and having to own up to your own mistakes. We also talk about how important it is to take a step back from tough situations and not to act on impulse.
I would recommend this podcast to anyone who is even slightly contemplating setting up a business. As Jamie put it himself, “I have made every small silly mistake that there is and I don’t want others to do the same!”.
Listen to a man who has been there done that speak about his lives experiences to date.
