  • xv ~ Patrick Kirby ~ The Modern Day American Dream
For decades now, hopeful souls have fled to America in search of their dream. For the vast majority, their shadowing cities chewed them up and spat them right back out. For others, it was kind… but this kindness only came about off the back of sheer hard work & dedication.
Patrick Kirby was a fresh 22 year old kid when he decided to leave for America. Taking a graduate visa, he describes himself as green behind the ears when first encountering downtown NYC. With no contacts, job prospects and barely a roof under his head, he was able to secure a job in a small start-up known as GlassView.
The year is 2018, and GlassView is today seen as the worlds largest independent video distribution platform. Holding accounts for ralph lauren, colgate, LG & IKEA, they work with fortune 500 companies. Having revolutionised the way video is utilised online, Patrick aged 25 now sits as chief operating officer for one of the fastest growing companies on the upper east side!
In this episode, we talk about his own winning formula, what it takes to make it in America, why failure is so vitally important and what’s on his bountiful horizon.
We learn why RTE and the irish times were keen to feature him, where he learned the tools of the trade and how far an irish charm can get you in commerce.
