  • 54. High School? with Anthony Navarro, Trey Tuyo, & Matthew Mercado

Can the gospel transform High School students?

In this episode, I sit down with 3 young men who I am so ABSOLUTELY proud of! Trey Tuyo, Anthony Navarro, and Matthew Mercado have personally been such a blessing to me as I have had the privilege of watching them grow in their respective faith-walks with Jesus for the past couple of years.

1 Timothy 4:12 says: Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.

These young men have really taken upon themselves to live out this text with each other!

Tune in to episode 54 to witness proof that God is STILL masterfully shaping and sharpening YOUNG hearts to enjoy being at the center of His will!

  • 53. Widows? with Blanca

Can the Gospel Transform Widows? In this episode, I sit down with my sister-in-Christ, Blanca, to discuss how the wonderful good news of Jesus has given her hope in the midst of crushing loss.

Although grief is a very complicated facet of human hardship, the light of the hope of heaven is always able to penetrate the deepest, darkest pain--by God's grace, Blanca is evidence of that reality. Tune in to episode 53 to hear part of her story of gospel transformation!

    Questions covered in this episode:

Can you tell us how you became a widow, and how your healing process has been?

What gives you motivation to be a strong mother to your kids?

In what ways has being a follower of Jesus affected how you process your grief? What are some passages, verses, experiences, or memories that help get you through your difficult days?

How would you share the gospel in a way that's tailored to those who are widows?

  • 52. Veterans? with Adam Terrazas
    Can the Gospel Transform Veterans?
In this candid conversation, Adam poignantly expresses his experience with having served in the U.S. military as a recon marine, and how his service has opened the door for him to minister to a community that is often overlooked and under-appreciated. Tune in to find out how serving in the military has given Adam insight on how to contextualize the gospel to fellow veterans/military personnel!
    Questions answered in this episode:
Can you tell us your story about what it was like serving in the U.S. military?
Many veterans struggle with sharing, coping, and processing what they may have experienced while in the service. Have you? In what ways has being a follower of Jesus helped you do that?
There is a lot of honor surrounding those who have served in the country’s military. Do you feel that sense of pride having served? If so, to what extent?
Do you ever feel any tension between being a proud American and a believer?
How would you share the gospel in a way that’s tailored to the veteran community?
Follow-up (final question): How can the gospel transform veterans?

  • Season 6 Teaser (Can the Gospel Transform?)
    SEASON 6!
This season, for every episode, my guests and I will be answering one question:
    CAN THE GOSPEL TRANSFORM?
We will be exploring topics, groups of people, or particular institutions that seem irreparable.
    Too far gone.
Too difficult and painful to be redeemed and salvaged.
Groups that have come to the point where God seems too small to heal their past, their present, and/or their pain.
Those groups or individuals that cause the Church to think,
    “God what about them?
    What about that?
Are you able to redeem that situation?
    Those thoughts?
    That broken heart?
If so, where in the world could we start?”
Behind every so-called hot topic, there is a person or group that has been saved by Christ, and they are searching for wisdom on how to view their current experience, their area of expertise, or their past in a way that honors the Lord.
These topics sometimes become polarizing talking points by preachers from the pulpit, which leave whole communities in confusion about how to move forward.
In addition to all of that, 👇🏽
There is an attitude of hopelessness and pessimism going around, mostly out in the world, but I’ve noticed it coming out in the Church as well, and not from everyone nor in every space, but there is this growing sense of things becoming more and more irreconcilable, so much so, that it seems like the only way to handle these people and institutions, is to get rid of them altogether, gaslight them into non-existence, and start from scratch.
Season 6 is meant to resist that urge to do away with all the hard stuff. To lean into conversations about healing and restoration.
To give those who are asking legitimate questions….gospel-saturated, and hope-filled answers.
Not just to read more, pray more, and go to church more often, but to embrace Jesus’ call to ABIDE.
    BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.
    AT ALL COSTS.

  • The Philippians Scripture Reading
(BONUS #5) Paul’s letter to the Philippians was the first book of the Bible I preached through at my church. It holds many beautiful memories for me, and I have actually made it a personal endeavor to memorize the entire letter!
I pray this Scripture reading ministers to your heart as it has mine!

  • The Flowers for My Father Episode
(BONUS #4) A much needed conversation about fatherhood with my dad.
Romans 12:10 says “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor.” The second half of the verse is often translated as “outdo one another in honor,” and that is exactly what I aimed to do with this episode.
My dad has been through a lot and now that we share the beautiful lifestyle of fatherhood together, as father and son, it was time to show him the honor he is much deserving of. I love you, poppa. This one is for you.

  • The If God, Why Suffering? Sermon
(BONUS #3) Make no mistake, the reality and presence of pain and suffering in our everyday lives makes it difficult to accept the existence of God.
So, because pain and suffering is part of the human experience, what relationship should we have with it? Whenever it comes, do we do everything in our power to avoid it, or is there an alternative?
How should we approach that suffering? This episode is a sermon I preached answering that very question, addressing that very topic. I pray it blesses you!

  • The Christian Celebrities Episode
(BONUS #2) Kanye West, Ryan Garcia, Justin Bieber, DMX, Kobe Bryant, and so many more have publicly proclaimed their dependence on God and/or Jesus Christ. But as we observe their lives that are on public display on a global scale, and we witness their mistakes and downward spirals, we are led to ask one question: ARE THEY REALLY CHRISTIAN?
We are confronted with this question, not because we want to criticize their relationship with Jesus or question their salvation, but because we’re genuinely concerned about them being in the spotlight without being involved in a local church.
Tune in to this episode as me and my great brother in Christ, Joshua Camper, talk about the threats of being a person with a large following, outside of a genuine Christian community.

  • The Anticipated Arrival Sermon
(BONUS #1) Can you answer the following question in one sentence: What is the Kingdom of God?
I cannot emphasize enough how essential the answer to this question is because when Jesus begins His earthly ministry, He proclaims, "The Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent and believe the Gospel."
This episode consists of a sermon I titled "The Anticipated Arrival" and in it, I sought to answer the question from above by preaching an overview of the entire Old Testament narrative leading up to the Gospels.
I pray it blesses you and your understanding of the Old Testament, and causes you to delight in the long-awaited Messiah and His RETURN!

  • 51. Ch 16 — Act Like Men with Adam Terrazas & Jonathan Maccarone
The grand finale! We continue (AND CONCLUDE) our study through 1 Corinthians with chapter 16! This episode is SPECIAL and if you’ve ever wondered what the Bible has to say about manhood, give this one a listen! I invited two of my best friends, both previous guests on the show, Adam and Jonathan, to talk about what it means to be a God-honoring MAN.
Tune in to Episode 51 to see how we are embracing our God-given call to serve, lead, and be humble before those whom God has placed before us and around us!
