I know it's been a minute since I've done an episode...the reality is, I haven't been honest. I've really been going through it and I've been doing a stellar job of masking. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be the example of how to do things better. Let's not forget I'm human too.
What happens when we forget to use our tools prior to our motivation waning? Listen as I tell you about my process and how to get out of the funk when it threatens to take over.
Man, I had the pleasure of attending an event in my hometown of Bunn this past weekend and I had a blast! There were people who I hadn't seen in over 10 years and we caught right up like we just saw each other yesterday. What was really cool was how folks appreciated the positivity in my posts. You never know who is watching what you are doing and the impact it has on others. I really enjoyed myself.
Here are some upcoming events:
Men's Group 8/6/26, 8pm EST: https://www.thedopeblacktherapist.com/mens-group
Doubt Yourself, Do It Anyway Summit:

Men's Mental Health Month has come to an end; however, it doesn't mean we stop talking about men's mental health! Fellas, how are you? Are you being heard? Are you communicating your wants, needs, thoughts, feelings, and emotions to those who care about you the most? You know you're allowed to be human, right? Take some time for you, but also, find a space where you feel you will be heard. They exist and if you can't find the space, create it!
Happy Father's Day! Happy Juneteenth! Happy Pride! Happy days full of love, joy, success, and abundance! I'm so glad you're here and still rocking with me. Several things going on this month already and still going. Walked with the 500 Fathers walk-a-thon to raise funds for Fathers Forever:

Another group that was present at the walk was Dads Smile:

So stoked to support these organizations and to be a dad. My own father is doing well after his open-heart surgery. Thanks for the well wishes and prayers.
Next men's group will be on July 9th and the link is below:

Thank you for continuing to rock with me. I know I may space episodes out from time to time...sometimes your man needs a break from the world. Instead of pushing through, I listen to my head, my heart, and my body, and take the rest. Keep being dope, y'all!
It's Men's Mental Health Month and I wanted to talk about a few things that we may not know about this month. Did you know that 1 in 8 men will experience depression in their life? I'm definitely the 1 in my group of folks. Men are also 2-3 times more likely to misuse drugs and alcohol.
You don't have to deal with on your own, fellas. Talk to your support system, or you can join some of these events happening this month:
My virtual men's group is meeting Thursday, 6/11/26, from 8-9pm EST. You can register using the link below.

On Saturday, 6/20/26, I am walking to raise money for Father's Forever at Southeast Raleigh High School. You can donate using the link below:

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! There's still a stigma surrounding mental health. Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities to discuss and several resources you can have access to and make things better for you.

You ever had that feeling where something is off and that you need to take a step back and get your shit together? Yeah, that's what I've been doing for the past couple of months and I apologize for those who have been waiting for a new episode to drop. I just had to work through my stuff and I'm slowly, but surely getting back to being me.
Been a minute since my last episode, and I apologize for that. February is a horrible month for me with the anniversary of my brother and my great-grandmother's death, it makes my depression go haywire. With that being said, I still got time to talk about the latest celebrity beef, what my grief looks like, and how I get a little relief from the stressors of life.
What up y'all? Am I the only one who doesn't get excited for things anymore? It's almost as if I expect the worst so I won't be disappointed if it happens. Why though? Why not look at it as an opportunity and be grateful for that?
Listen as I describe how I reframed disappointment into excitement. The next men's group is on Thursday, February 5th from 8-9pm EST. It's a free, virtual group and you can register here: https://www.thedopeblacktherapist.com/mens-group
Also, you can get your copy of my book, Becoming The Dope Black Therapist, on Amazon here: https://a.co/d/fjko8gI
If you want to attend the NC First Responder Wellness Summit, you can register here: https://www.pierceprovisions.com/piercefoundation
Celebrated my birthday recently and still there is horrible shit going on in the world today. Listen as I actually give you some things you can do to be sure you're taking care of you during this tough time.
