The Dovecast

This episode was recorded near the beginning of May with my dear friend David Nance. David lives in Omaha NE, he is a prolific musician, with many amazing releases under his belt. I’ve been lucky enough to have crossed paths over and over in both of our hometowns during tours and definitely find him and his family to be a comfort along my journeys. His most recent release is his LP, staunch honey that came out last fall  on Trouble in Mind records, and he was also heavily involved with Rosali’s new album No Medium that was recently put out on Spinster Sounds.  Thanks for listening and here is the show

Sara Gernsbacher is a Los Angeles based musician and artist, known as Mayako XO, her solo music project, FKA Littlerag, Dentdog and more... Working with guitar, space, surface, texture,  the end result is always beautiful, leaving space for the body and language to rest in. I've always been enamored by the music she makes. We could've talked forever it felt like. Her latest record "XO" is now out on Post Present Medium.

Intro and outro song by Evan Burrows

Without binding itself to an era, I find Kayla Cohen's project, Itasca, existing in a place: blooming as a wash in the desert heat, unwavering and unyielding to the elements, thriving in the hills of East Los Angeles or a New Mexico winter, standing ground and consciously existing in the space between the harshness of the wild and the paved. Her guitar playing intricate and bright, dense and piercing, it pulls the listener through the movement as much as it pushes it along. Looking forward to sharing this conversation we had. Enjoy!

Here, we talk about perfume, Jimi Hendrix, sunshine, why guitar is still cool and break down some of how this record was made … interviewing and being interviewed are new things for both of us but I think we catch our stride.

This interview is soundtracked by 40 minutes of unused recordings of CCCP
