Dr. Jay Lee, 2012 Chair of AAFP NCSC meeting, joins me to talk about Family Medicine advocacy and the impact that social media has had on it. (This is a pre-recorded interview) Topics include the recently introduced Family Medicine Revolution website, AAFP Annual Leadership Forum, NCSC meeting, Family Medicine Congressional Conference, and California Academy of Family Physicians Annual Scientific Assembly.

Russell Stine, otherwise known as @HybridMedic on twitter, will share his story about how his Family Physician saved his life by finding the cancer that is being treated right now. On his blog at HybridMedic.com, he wrote a post entited "My Week As A Patient" where he chronicles his story. He is also a paramedic and fire fighter. So, this is a caregiver whose life was turned around with him becoming a patient. Join us as he shares his fascinating story.

On this special Sunday night show, I'll be discussing the importance of social media for Family Medicine. I wrote a blog post on this and I'll be sharing other thoughts on this an the following meetings. On May 7, 2011, the AAFP meetings of the National Conference of Special Constituencies and the Annual Leadership Forum were completed. On May 9, 2011 begins the AAFP Family Medicine Congressional Conference in Washington DC.

My guest is scheduled to be Dr. Mark Ryan who is a Family Physician from Richmond, VA and is also on the Advisory Board of the Mayo Clinic Center of Health Care Social Media. Dr Chip Teel is a Family Physician and author of the book "Alone And Invisible: Averting Disaster In Aging America." He also has the website FullCircleAmerica.com which supports elders living in the comfort of their own homes assisted by technology, social networking, life management, and expansive volunteering.

Drs Dinah Miller, Annette Hanson, and Steve Daviss will be joining me to talk about their upcoming book entitled "Shrink Rap: Three Psychiatrists Explain Their Work" which will be released on April 28, 2011. They are also authors of the "Shrink Rap" blog.
