  • How to Delay Gratification and Avoid Future Regret. For the Introspective Introvert.

What if the hard thing you’re avoiding today becomes the thing you regret not doing tomorrow? Sometimes we want relief now, comfort now, and ease now. But learning to delay gratification can help us make choices today that our future selves may be grateful for.

In this episode of The Driven Introvert, I’m sharing what my mom taught me about delayed gratification, how those lessons shaped the way I make decisions today, and why I believe the pain of regret can sometimes be harder than the pain of sacrifice.

    • Growing up, this looked like small things.
    • Finishing my homework before watching TV.
    • Cleaning the kitchen before sitting down with a book.
    • Doing what needed to be done before enjoying what I wanted to do.

At the time, those choices didn’t seem important. But looking back, I can see how they helped build discipline, patience, and the ability to keep going when something is hard.

I also share a video that made me think deeply about regret. It was the story of a father who pushed his young son to train hard as an athlete, and a comment from another parent who wished he had done the same with his daughter.

It reminded me that sometimes protecting ourselves from temporary discomfort can come with a cost.

There are no guarantees that hard work will give us the exact outcome we want.

But there is something powerful about knowing you gave your best effort.

    That you tried.

That you didn’t walk away simply because the road was difficult.

For introverts especially, I believe there can be great strength in the way we focus our energy. When we care deeply about something, we often have the ability to go all in.

So what is worth going all in for in your life right now?

What dream, idea, skill, business, calling, or opportunity deserves your effort?

Learning to delay gratification does not mean ignoring rest, your health, or your limits. It means being willing to do the necessary work now when you believe the work could lead somewhere meaningful.

You may not know exactly what the outcome will be.

But you can decide that fear of hard work will not make the decision for you.

Sometimes you have to delay gratification, do what is difficult today, and trust that the discipline, growth, confidence, or reward will be worth it later.

I’m choosing to leave it all on the table.

What are you willing to work for today so you don’t have to wonder what could have been?

  • 3 Signs You've Given Up. How to Push Through Hard Times | For the Ambitious Introvert

What if you haven’t officially quit, but somewhere along the way, you stopped really trying? You’re still showing up. You’re still doing what needs to be done. But the energy, hope, and drive you once had are gone.

In this episode of The Driven Introvert, I’m sharing three signs you may have quietly given up, and what it can look like to push through hard times when disappointment, failure, or overwhelm have taken more out of you than you realized.

I also share a personal story from one of the hardest seasons of my life. After earning my master’s degree, I struggled for years to find meaningful work. I applied for jobs, faced rejection after rejection, and eventually reached a moment when I knew: this is where people give up.

I was sitting at my kitchen counter, crying over yet another rejection email, when I had to make a decision. Would I stop trying? Or would I get up and do the next thing I could do?

In this episode, we’ll talk about three signs you may be stuck: you’ve stopped moving, you’ve stopped believing in possibilities, and you’ve stopped fighting for your own dreams. We’ll also talk about what those signs can look like in everyday life—and why recognizing them isn’t about judging yourself. It’s about becoming aware enough to get unstuck.

And if you’re an introvert who feels overwhelmed by the constant noise, negativity, expectations, and energy of the world around you, there’s a part of this conversation especially for you. Sometimes the question becomes, “What’s the point?” What’s the point in dreaming again, trying again, or putting yourself out there again?

But you don’t have to fix everything around you to push through hard times. Sometimes you simply need one positive action. One prayer, one conversation, one idea you’re willing to revisit, or one small step toward the life and work you know you still care about.

If you’ve been wondering how to get unstuck after disappointment, failure, or a long season of feeling drained, I hope this episode reminds you that you can begin again. You may have slowed down. You may have lost hope. You may even realize that you’ve quietly given up.

But you can still push through hard times, take the next step, and start moving again.

What is one positive action you can take today?

  • How to Connect at Events and Conferences: Networking for Introverts

Have you ever walked into an event, immediately looked for the back of the room, and quietly hoped you could make it through without talking to too many people? I’ve been there. I’ve also found the one person I knew and stayed with them the entire time. But over the years, I’ve learned that networking for introverts doesn’t have to mean forcing yourself to become someone you’re not. You can learn to connect in a way that works with your personality and your energy.

Recently, I attended the Empowered Podcasting Conference in North Carolina as a speaker. I met people whose work I had followed for a while, had great conversations, learned from other podcasters, and shared my own experience from the stage. But I didn’t just walk into the conference and hope for the best. I prepared, and that preparation helped me show up with more confidence and intention.

In this episode, I share the simple three-part framework I use.

    • First, research before you go.
    • Second, know what you want the event to move forward in your life, career, or business. For me, networking for introverts works best when there is a clear purpose behind why I’m spending my energy and showing up in the room.
    • Third, plan your exit.

If networking for introverts has always felt awkward, exhausting, or intimidating, I hope this episode gives you a different way to approach your next event. You don’t need to work the entire room or become the loudest person there. You can prepare, connect intentionally, protect your energy, and still walk away with meaningful relationships and opportunities.

Ever feel like there’s a version of you waiting to emerge but fear, doubt, or comfort is holding you back? This episode is for the introspective introvert who wants to be more.

In this episode, I read a powerful excerpt from Today Matters by John C. Maxwell and share a deeply personal story about how a simple mindset shift began a major transformation in my life.

    We talk about:

    • The tension between comfort and calling

You can’t wish your way into success. You have to become the kind of person who can carry the life you dream of.

If you're an introspective introvert dreaming of more, more growth, more purpose, more impact, this is your gentle reminder: you can start today.

  • How to Trust God with Your Fears and Hard Decisions. Purpose Driven Entrepreneurship.

Let’s talk about how to trust God with hard decisions.

How do you move forward when you’re afraid of making the wrong choice?

What do you do when fear is loud, the answers are unclear, and the situation in front of you feels impossible?

In this episode, we’re digging into the quiet beliefs we hold about God and how those beliefs shape the way we make decisions.

It is one thing to say that God is good, faithful, and in control.

It is another thing to live like we truly believe it when the outcome matters deeply to us.

I share a personal story about fear, faith, and an opportunity I almost allowed uncertainty to take away from me.

We’ll talk about how fear can lead us to overthink, delay, or avoid the very steps God may be asking us to take.

Because learning how to trust God is not about having every answer before you move.

Sometimes it looks like praying, examining what you believe about God, and taking the next right step even while you are still afraid.

This is about how to trust God with difficult decisions, uncertain outcomes, unanswered questions, and the things you cannot control.

Plus, we’ll explore a simple but powerful practice inspired by The Next Right Thing by Emily P. Freeman.

This practice will help you pay attention to the way you see God, release the pressure to get everything right, and move forward with greater peace.

You may not know how everything will work out.

But you can learn how to trust God every day, do your best with what is in your hands, and leave the outcome with him.

  • Why Dreams Die and How to Revive a Dead Dream. For the Introspective Introvert.

Have you ever carried a dream for so long that it stopped feeling exciting and started feeling heavy?

Maybe you told people about it.

Maybe you planned it in your head for months or even years.

Maybe you still want it, but every time you think about starting, you feel pressure instead of peace.

In this episode, I’m talking about how to revive a dead dream and how to know if the dream is still yours to pursue.

Sometimes dreams do not die because we forgot about them.

Sometimes they die because the weight of our own expectations becomes too much to carry.

The longer we wait, the more pressure we feel to make the dream impressive, polished, and successful right away.

And that pressure can make it even harder to begin.

In this episode, I share a simple way to think about the dreams you have been carrying.

Sometimes the way to wake up a dead dream is to stop talking about it and finally do the smallest version of it.

So if there is something in your heart that has felt too heavy to start, I hope this episode encourages you to pause, pay attention, and take one tiny step.

Maybe your dead dream is not really dead.

Maybe it just needs room to breathe again.

  • When You Gave It Your All, and It Still Didn’t Work. How to Recover From a Failed Dream. For Introverted Dreamers.

Have you ever poured your heart into an idea, only to watch it fall flat?

Maybe you set up the page, wrote the emails, built the offer, opened the calendar, and gave it your best.

    And still, nothing happened.

In this episode, I’m talking about what to do with a failed dream and how to keep going when something you hoped for does not pan out.

I share honestly about my own graveyard of dreams: books that did not sell, writing workshops that barely took off, a merch business that went nowhere, and ideas I really believed in that simply did not work.

It is painful to experience a failed dream. When a dream comes up short, it can make you question yourself.

It can make you wonder if you heard God wrong, missed something important, or maybe just do not have what it takes.

But I do not believe failure has to be the end of the story.

Sometimes, the thing that did not work becomes the very thing that teaches you what to do next.

In this episode, I walk through three things to consider when you're staring down a failed dream.

I know what it feels like to try and feel like you came up short.

But I also know that regret is heavier than trying and failing.

So if you have it in you, I hope you get up again.

    I hope you try again.

    I hope you dream again.

Your failed dream may not be the end.

It may be a pointer to what comes next.

  • Why Do I Feel Lost in Life? for Introverts Who Are Ready to Ditch Fear and Be All They Were Meant to Be

Do you ever find yourself asking, “Why do I feel lost?”

Maybe life looks fine on the outside, but on the inside, you feel disconnected from yourself.

You’re doing the things you’re supposed to do, showing up where you’re supposed to show up, and maybe even staying inside your comfort zone because it feels safer there.

But deep down, something still feels off.

In this episode, I’m asking the question “why do I feel lost?” and reflecting on chapter 19 of The Next Right Thing by Emily P. Freeman, called Come Home to Yourself. This chapter invites us to pay attention to the relationship we often forget: the relationship we have with ourselves.

This episode is for the introvert, dreamer, or purpose-driven person who feels disconnected, unsure, or afraid to trust themselves.

Maybe you’ve wondered what your gifts are.

Maybe you’ve questioned what God created you to do.

Maybe you’ve dismissed the kind words people have spoken over you because it felt easier to focus on your doubts.

But what if those words are hints?

What if God has been using your life, your desires, your relationships, and even the encouragement of trusted people to show you who you are?

If you’ve been asking “why do I feel lost?”, maybe the next right thing is not to chase a whole new life.

Maybe it is to notice where you have felt most alive.

Where you have felt most yourself.

Where you have seen God’s fingerprints in your personality, your gifts, your longings, and your story.

  • How to Handle Criticism. Confidence Strategies for Introverts Who Want to Lead With Boldness

Do you struggle with knowing how to handle criticism without letting it take over your mind?

Maybe one person said something harsh, and even though other people encouraged you, that one comment stayed with you.

In this episode, we’re talking about how to handle criticism without giving every negative voice a seat at the table. We’re reflecting on chapter 18 of The Next Right Thing by Emily P. Freeman, called Don’t Give Your Critic Words, and looking at how to decide which voices deserve our attention and which ones need to be released.

Criticism is tricky because not all critics are the same.

In this episode, I talk about why we can hear a thousand kind words and still focus on the one negative thing someone said.

    Why does that happen?

Why do we replay the hurtful words?

Why do we rehearse our defensive response?

Why do we let one person’s opinion have so much power over our hearts?

For many of us, the issue is not just the criticism itself.

    The issue is our confidence.

    Our identity.

    The way we see ourselves.

When we are not rooted in who we are, critical words can shake us more deeply than they should.

They can make us question our value, our work, our calling, and our ability to keep going.

But when we are rooted in God, we can learn to listen differently.

This episode is especially for the introvert, dreamer, creator, or purpose-driven person who feels deeply affected by the words of others.

    Maybe you are building something.

Maybe you are using your voice in a new way.

Maybe you are trying to step out in faith, but the fear of being judged keeps pulling you back.

I want you to know this: not every opinion deserves your energy.

Not every critic deserves your response.

Not every negative word deserves space in your heart.

Sometimes the next right thing is to draw a line in the sand and decide what you will believe.

You may not be able to stop people from speaking.

You may not be able to go back and change what someone said.

But you can decide whether those words get to shape your identity.

You can decide whose voice gets to lead.

And you can ask Jesus to help you catch yourself when you start repeating negative words that were never rooted in truth.

Learning how to handle criticism is not about becoming hard or unbothered.

    It is about becoming rooted.

It is about knowing who you are.

It is about trusting God’s voice more than the voice of the critic.

Send me an email and tell me: what critical voice do you need to stop giving power to?

  • How to Say No Without Feeling Guilty? Find a No Mentor. Communication Strategies for Introverts.

Do you struggle with knowing how to say no without feeling guilty?

Maybe you’ve said yes to something, then immediately felt that heavy feeling in your stomach because you knew you didn’t really have the time, energy, or desire to do it.

In this episode, I’m talking about how to say no in a way that honors your life, your people, your peace, and the work God has placed in your hands. We’re continuing the conversation from the last episode on what it means to choose your absence and turning our attention to chapter 17 of The Next Right Thing by Emily P. Freeman, where she talks about finding a “no mentor.”

A no mentor is someone who can help you make wise decisions when you already know something should probably be a no, but you don’t quite have the confidence to say it yet. This is the person who reminds you of what you value, what you have time for, what season you’re in, and what you truly want to give your energy to.

Because the truth is, saying no is not always easy.

Sometimes we say yes because we don’t want to hurt people’s feelings.

Sometimes we say yes because we want to seem agreeable.

Sometimes we say yes because we feel responsible for everything and everyone.

And sometimes we say yes because the opportunity looks good, even though deep down we know it does not align with where we are going.

But when we keep saying yes to things that do not belong, our calendar gets full, our hearts get heavy, and we lose the space we need for the things that truly matter.

In this episode, I share why information is not always enough. We can read the books, listen to the advice, and understand that we need better boundaries, but when the moment comes, we still need the courage to act. We need to move from knowing to doing.

I also share why my sister has been a no mentor for me, especially when I need help making decisions around relationships and personal connections I want to preserve. Some decisions require wisdom, care, and a trusted voice that can help us see clearly.

We talk about what kind of person makes a good no mentor. Someone whose values align with yours. Someone who has context for your life. Someone who understands the underbelly of your choice. Someone who respects you but is not so impressed by you that they cannot tell you the truth.

This episode is especially for the introvert who feels overwhelmed by obligations, expectations, and opportunities that may be good but are not right for this season.

Here’s the question I want you to sit with:

Do you have the time, space, and energy to pursue the life, dreams, and calling God has placed in your heart while still carrying all the things you’ve already said yes to?

If the answer is no, I hope this episode gives you the courage to pause, reflect, and choose what truly matters.

Learning how to say no is not about being selfish.

    It is about stewardship.

It is about protecting your peace.

It is about honoring your limits.

And it is about making room for the life God is inviting you to live.

Send me an email and tell me: do you have a no mentor in your life?
