In today's episode we talk about Hip Hop Movie Soundtracks. If any one wants to get into 90's hip hop or just hip hop in general a great place to start is soundtracks, compilations and even mixtapes. The reason to you should start with these compilations is because many artists are featured and you can figure out who you're feeling and who you might not like as much. Also the soundtracks usually features songs from your favourite artists that didn't make it to their albums. In the 90's you could find so many hidden gems on soundtracks, compilations and mixtapes. Some of my favourite soundtracks : Friday, Rhyme and Reason, The Show, Who's the Man , Murder was the Case and many more. 

In this episode I stroll through a list that was put together by Matt Barone from Complex and even though i didn't agree with some of his choices it was cool to go down memory lane and talk about some of his choices. As usual i want to do a part 2 to this .. Soundtracks play such a huge part in hip hop culture. Let's face is - The movie Friday with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker was dope as hell wouldn't be shit without the soundtrack..

God damn Victorian's have had it rough and I honestly I think the worst of it, is only starting.. It really does feel like no-one is telling the truth anymore. Our leaders have failed miserably. Daniel Andrews has literally sunken this great state of ours .. Personally, I think he needs to be charged for ruining so many peoples lives .. It's one thing to look at statistics but it's another to hear individual stories and a lot of our individual stories, are heartbreaking.. I know this is a Hip Hop show but I really felt like  I needed to use this platform to have my say.. The government is looking to push more of their thoughts on youtube, while silencing the smaller creator , so podcasts are becoming more relevant for individual thought and truth amongst your every day Aussie.. This podcast is me just spitballing. I feel like i had so much stuff to say that I might have to do a part 2 .. As I was re-organising my record shelf a few days ago. I just kept pulling out classic after classic. I thought to myself these are hip hop albums that new generations will never hear. Then I thought; maybe it's time to put my cape on and start recommending some of these albums to future generations of hip hop heads. Shit, people still listen to rock and roll from the 60's and 70's , why can't new generations get into hip hop from the 90's?

Off-course 90's hip hop is when the genre was in it's prime. There was so much good stuff coming out and I know some people might not agree with the 5 albums that I've recommended but this isn't a list for old school heads; this is about pushing this beautiful culture of ours forward and even if only one kid listens to this and puts him. or her on the right path, my job is done! 

I think there are too many older heads that are a little too stand-off-ish.. My goal isn't to judge but to educate .. Each one teach one type of shit, hope you guys enjoy this one and there will be a post on my Instagram; @OGtalks pertaining to to this podcast. In this episode we talk about how much Kanye and T-Pain impacted Hip Hop in the late 2000's. Their use of the Pro-tools plug-in, Auto-tune, changed everything! It impacted Hip Hop and RnB like nothing else before to the point where 90% of the top 40 industry sounds the same. 

There was a saviour and his name was Pop Smoke. This 20 year old was going to bring hip hop back to New York.  He was going to do it with a touch of the UK drill scene where even Pop , just kept talking about changing the game.  Hip Hop was about to be reborn ..

On the 19th of February , Pop Smoke was killed in a robbery that went wrong and when he passed away that morning i honestly feel like a piece of hip hop died with him .. 

Now Hip Hop is stuck again. Stuck in this horrible cycle where having no talent is no big deal. As long as we have this pitch correction technology , just looking the part and playing the part will do ..

We need another Pop Smoke! Hip Hop needs another Hero to take it away from this over-saturated sound, that honestly : is played out !

This episode's about trending and surface level Hip Hop. The stuff that sounds great on the first listen but as the weeks go by, the love for that album or track, start to fade. There’s no way being an artist would be easy but there’s way too much disposable , surface level and trending hip hop coming out . . From Pop Smoke (who i'm a massive fan of), to 6ix9ine (who i can't stand for breaking the code of the streets - yes that still means something). To Griselda (WestsideGunn, Conway and Benny the Butcher). Too many albums being released , too quickly, quantity over quality and all things in-between .. Let's talk about it

In this Podcast I talk RnB. I've been in to Rnb for around 25 years . Just a little bit shorter than my Hip Hop infatuation ..

I've been absolutely obsessed with good RnB and in the 90's we were spoiled for that shit. RnB over Hip Hop Beats, the mixtapes and collaborations !!!! Damn that shit was tasty!

What inspired this podcast was the Kehlani album - It Was Good Until It Wasn't! This album is an absolute modern day masterpiece. Think Erykah Badu but 2020 shit! I can't recommend this album enough, this will be an album that hip hop and RnB heads talk about in many years to come.
