I met Brad Younie at Carnage CON last November and sat at one of his games.  We played his:” The Unexplained” game system and I had a blast.  I instantly knew I had to invite him on the podcast to talk more about his games, running games at CONs, and his future products!

Brad Younie writes books mostly about magic in the real world because he thinks people need a little excitement in their lives. Being an eternal teenager in a man’s body, he owns a collection of swords, wands, and spends way too much time studying these things. A man with many hobbies, he plays guitar, reads books, watches movies, and fences with lightsabers and swords that are a bit sharper. But most of all, he weaves tales of magic and mystery that chill to the bone as it makes the heart race.

Let’s talk about storytelling, it’s the foundation of every good DM. You probably listen to and/or watch the variety of DM’s inaction and thought to yourself, wow what a complex and engaging story that they and their players tell together. And it’s true, there are some DMs out there that really tell a fantastic story. There’s no reason why that can’t be you.

Dungeons and Dragons had their origins in wargaming.  It was a supplement to the chain mail rules and not a stand-alone game so it makes sense to include some rules for mass combat.  Back in the day, we had “The Battle System”, a D&D supplement that gave us rules for mass combat.  Today, we have Unearthed Arcana’s version of that system.
