Careers Hive is a yearly week-long free event run by Edinburgh Science Learning and it’s on this week. Today we spoke with a couple of young STEM professionals who will be addressing the young people about how to get on in a STEM-based career

Two of the council’s big projects will be considered at next weeks Transport and Environment Committee. We spoke to Cllr Lesley Macinnes about taking the tram to Newhaven and also making radical changes to the way we get about in the city centre.

After the City of Edinburgh Council budget meeting on Thursday 21 February we spoke with Conservative councillor and group leader, Iain Whyte. The Tories has a plan in their alternative budget proposal to ditch the tram project and take the special dividend from Lothian the city’s bus operator, and spend that money on schools instead. Here he explains his position on Trams and what their proposal ( which was defeated by full council) would have meant.

This week the council sets its budget for spending in the coming year. They have proposed some cuts to the funding they will give to Edinburgh Leisure which is an arms length company. All will be revealed on Thursday but we spoke to the CEO to find out what she thinks about it.
