  • Members of the NASUWT teaching union in England have voted in favour of industrial action

  • The proportion of key stage 2 pupils reaching the expected standard in all three areas of reading, writing and maths is unchanged from last year, showing no recovery to pre-Covid levels.

  • The government has accepted a recommendation of a 6.5% oat ruse for teachers, but will only provide extra funding for 3%.

  • Fewer than one in five governors believe their school or trust will be financially sustainable in the medium to long term, and almost one in ten will have to set deficit budgets or seek government loans to balance income and spending.
