If you’re anything like most women (me included!) you often find yourself running around all day, trying to get everything done. 

You have your partner or family to take care of, a household to run and let’s not forget a business that you want to launch or grow as soon as you can. 

Then you collapse into bed and wish you could somehow escape and find time to relax and unwind. Or even cross your fingers and hope that you can claim extra hours in your day!! 

I understand. 

As a busy mum, partner, carer and business owner, I get exactly where you’re coming from.

 (And last time I checked, there were still only 24 hours each day!) 🤣

And I know that if I’m not careful, I’ll end up burning myself out. 

If I ignore the signals, my business will suffer, my health will suffer, my feelings will suffer and more importantly, I will suffer too.

Did you delay having children because you just weren’t in the right place in your life at the time? Your career was taking off, you weren’t in a financially stable place or you have other life goals that you want to tick off first. 

But then you get to your mid or late 30s and you start wondering why nothing is happening.

It’s a pretty exciting thought, don’t you agree? 

As a self-proclaimed planning geek, I know that planning is indeed my superpower.

Most of us female entrepreneurs and business owners set ourselves goals to ensure we achieve our personal and business goals and reach our full potential.

As women, we have often been told what we cannot do by the outside world. 

We cannot chase our dreams because we’re female or because we’re women of colour. We need to find a husband, have kids and then be content breastfeeding and changing nappies. 

We must accept a lack of autonomy and freedom and prioritise the needs of our children and families, ending up with very little time to spend on ourselves. 

We absolutely can’t stand up, share our stories, and empower ourselves to live our best ever lives.

This famous quote comes from the father of modern medicine, Hippocrates back in 440 BC. 

Despite the fact that many of us seem to have forgotten, this remains true, especially during our perimenopause and menopause years. 

If we want to remain energetic, focused, and truly enjoy our lives at midlife, we need to rethink our eating habits. 

This has long been a priority for me. Even back in my corporate days, I used to rock up with huge bottles full of green juice (and people used to laugh) and eat as healthy as I could. But as I’ve got older, it’s become even more important to me.  

But what does rethinking our eating habits actually mean? How do we support our bodies so we look and feel at our best?

In this episode of the podcast, I speak to our special guest, Louise Carr. She’s a nutritionist and self-proclaimed ‘wholefoods ninja’ and has her own story to share about eating for optimal health at midlife. 

When she experienced a health crash at 46, doctors said that she should expect to feel that way at ‘her age’ and put it down to menopause. They didn’t provide any advice or recommendations…

But she didn’t just accept her symptoms. Instead, she focused on retraining as a nutritionist, discovering how she could tweak her food and lifestyle habits to feel better.
