In meeting other people do we truly know their intentions, do we really know what they truly value or who they really are? From Jesus' parable from Luke 14:7-14 we can learn about God's intentions about the world, and how we live with others in an age of uncertainty.

A common problem in the church is the generational gap that exists between people, a trend that will only grow in the coming decade. How can the church seek to meet the needs of older people, and how can people of any age see their value and importance to God and to the mission of the church?

Why is it that certain places like churches, shrines, and even cities are considered holy- or "set apart"? Does that mean that God is more powerful or more present there than anywhere else? Discover how the salvation of God goes beyond what is done in the spirit and how it has invaded and impacted our world.

When God speaks into our world and our lives it has the ability to change everything for us, and works to lead his people into greater commitment to authority and mission in the world.

The tragedies of this world can seem overwhelming, and at times faith can seem superficial to deal with it. But the Word of God is so much more than just words on a page, as experienced through the prophet Amos.

Devotion to God is the ultimate mark of a prophet, and that love of him is what drives a prophet's work in the world.

Challenging and engaging society means to understand the needs and concerns of society itself. The church must be willing to pay attention to and address any and all concerns and issues in society, just as God cared about the needs of his people in the latest episode of the prophet Elijah's narrative.

Despite the best efforts of the church to work in the world, there can still be resistance and backlash to our efforts. But discouragement offers the chance to understand what is necessary to be a prophet, as seen through a different perspective in Elijah's ministry.

From a different point of view we look at how the church confronts society, from the view of the protagonist in the Elijah ministry. How and why does society respond the way it does to the church counterculture?
