⚠️ Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussion of domestic abuse and violence.
This episode shares a powerful domestic abuse survivor story and explores the realities of domestic violence and support for survivors in the UK.
In this powerful and deeply moving episode, I sit down with Deborah Jones, founder and CEO of Resolute Women’s Support Services, a charity dedicated to supporting women affected by domestic abuse and violence across the UK.
Deborah’s journey is one of extraordinary strength.
After surviving ten years of domestic abuse, she rebuilt her life with her two children and began the long process of healing. During that journey, Deborah discovered something deeply troubling - the systems designed to protect victims were often failing the very women they were meant to help!
Rather than staying silent, Deborah turned her lived experience into action.
In 2021, she founded Resolute Women’s Support Services to provide trauma-informed, survivor-led support for women navigating life after abuse.
Today, the charity offers counselling, EMDR therapy, holistic support, advocacy through the criminal justice system, and compassionate services led by people with lived experience.
But Deborah’s work goes even further.
Driven by her own experience, she launched a campaign called Tag & App, calling for a national GPS proximity tagging system for domestic abuse perpetrators, technology designed to alert victims if an offender comes within a restricted distance, providing an additional layer of protection that could help prevent further harm and ultimately save lives.
At the time this episode is released, this campaign has reached a historic moment, with the proposal being expected to be announced in the media publicly by Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy.
In this conversation, we discuss:
