Melanie has worked with the earth for most of her life and found Paganism in the early 70's. She now follows an Ovate Druidic path. She has worked in horticulture, attended Hadlow Agricultural College in Kent, and she later studied Ecology and Conservation at London University; where she went on to work as a Woodland Conservation Ranger in Kent for many years. 

Melanie was one of the founder members of 'The Dragon Environmental Network'), where she first met her husband Wolf successfully campaigning to save Oxleas Wood in Greenwich, back in the late 1980's.

About Laurence Winram  

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Laurence Winram has spent his 30 year career working as a fine art and commercial photographer. Having always been drawn to all forms of art he visited the 2018 European Stone Stacking Championships in Dunbar. From that day onward he became hooked on the meditative benefits of creating land art. Since 2018 Laurence has become one of the directors of the European Land Art Festival (ELAF) in Dunbar. In 2022 he won the overall artistic award at the Llano Earth Art Festival in Texas.

In the last few years Laurence’s work has become primarily ground based, usually centred on repeating mandala or fractal like patterns created on beaches or forests. Recently he began working on animations where his experience as a photographer serves him well. The practice of creating land art has had a profound effect on his well-being and worldview.

In 2022 he began running land art workshops with adults and school children.

Linda Langelo is a Colorado State University Extension Horticulture Specialist. The five counties under her care are in Northeast Colorado. 

She received her master’s degree in education administration from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland. She graduated from Cabrini College with a degree in English Communications, along with a minor in Biology and Botany. Then she went on to the Horticulture Program at Longwood Gardens. She was a member of the Tri-Beta Honor Society.  In July 2021, she received the Lois Woodward Paul Memorial Award from Longwood Gardens Horticulture Program alumni for her career accomplishments.

During her 40 years in horticulture, she has implemented and overseen arboretums. As Assistant Director of Horticulture at Salisbury State University, she helped implement a campus-wide arboretum. She went on to be Director at Adkins Arboretum early in its implementation, increasing its exposure in the local and surrounding communities, and as a member of the American Public Garden Association. 

Currently, she writes a monthly column titled The Relentless Gardener for the Holyoke Enterprise. She has a Facebook Page titled Garden the Plains and has started a YouTube Channel titled Plants Are Speaking. Are You Listening? Titled after her self-published book, Plants Are Speaking. Are You Listening?

Janine de Waal is an international design architect, heritage practitioner, explorer, educator and artist whose work is rooted in a deep commitment to Planet, People and Place. With an M.Phil in Conservation of the Built Environment and a B.Arch in Architecture, her practice integrates design, heritage stewardship and creative expression across diverse contexts.

Her work extends beyond architectural practice into education, having taught at the University of Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and at Yestermorrow - where she guides students, homeowners and professionals toward a holistic understanding of design. She is also the creator of curated travel journeys that offer immersive explorations of architecture, culture and heritage, connecting the “old,” the “famous” and the “new” in order to tell the layered stories of Place.

Through her artistic practice, Janine produces bronze sculptures and jewellery inspired by architectural forms, historic maps and the natural world, bridging art and design in tactile, intimate ways.
